“Now it’s yo’ turn,” I menaced as I went over to Desmond empty handed. “Now keep yo’ dick sucker close as I give you this ass whoppin’. I’m ‘bout to beat yo’ ass like you stole somethin’ ‘cause fuck nigga you did. Not only did you steal my girl, but you took away her sense of safety nigga! She felt safe with you which is pretty fuckin’ hard to do with Nessa. You were around my fuckin’ child and still went along with kidnappin’ her fuckin’ mama. Like clearly you let the money get to yo’ head now it’s time for you to pay the fuckin’ piper with yo’ life fuck nigga!”
I started giving that nigga straight body shots as I punched him with all my might. Each hit I thought about how he’d come into my family’s life only to cause them pain. This nigga should’ve known from just being in my presence the last thing he wanted to do was cross me. His grunts became white noise as I zoned out and beat on him until I was tired. Once I came up for breath, I grabbed the bat off the table. Beating him with the bat, I didn’t stop until that nigga’s face was bloody and unrecognizable.
Grabbing my gun out of my coveralls, I unload the clip into a barely conscious fuck nigga. Once I finished I handed the gun to Chance as I underdressed. As I walked out of the abandoned building, I grabbed my gun and secured it on my person. When we made it to my car, I hit the button on the detonator. Within seconds the building was engulfed in flames as we watched.
“Where to now?” Chance inquired as we drove away.
“Home,” I answered as I looked at the flames in the rearview mirror. “I’m goin’ home to my family.”
Walking into Nessa’s house, I felt at peace as I continued deeper inside with Chance behind me. I found her asleep on the sofa with Nyla and Chanel sleeping on the other side. The credits of the Princess and The Frog played in the background as Chance picked up his daughter. After they left, I secured the door before returning to the living room. As I sat next to Nessa my hand slid under the covers as I found her belly and began rubbing it.
“You know we gotta talk ‘bout yo’ ass havin’ a key to my house,” she chastised me with her eyes still closed. “‘Cause I don’t remember givin’ you one.”
“I don’t know why you’d kid yo’self and think I didn’t have one,” I softly chuckled. “Hell, I’m tryna see if y’all movin’ in with me today or not.”
“Movin’ in with you??” Her eyes shot open. “Nas, I refuse to have Nyla leave from a house I’ve worked so hard to make a home. Now, you’ve handled the threats against us so can we just go back livin’ separate?”
“Ok, y’all don’t have to move from your home. I’ll just move in here.”
“Why if you’ve handled everythin’?”
“Because I can’t continue to be without you, Vanessa. I was goin’ out of my fuckin’ mind while you were away ‘cause I was scared that I could not see you again. If you were taken away from me before I could tell you that I love you with every ounce of me, I would’ve been fucked up. Listen, I know I hurt you when I ended things, and you gotta know that shit ‘bout killed me. I just couldn’t allow you to do that time with me. That’s not something you deserve no matter how much it would hurt me to see you go on. As a man I wanted you to be able to live yo’ life even without me, but I was determined to do everything I could to get you back. If I have to spend the rest of my days apologizin’ for leavin’ and hurtin’ you, I will Nessa. I know I always say I gotcha you, but I need you more than I need my last breath.”
“Nasir,” she whispered as tears rolled down her eyes.
“I know I can’t rewrite the past, and if you haven’t forgiven me I understand. I’ll sleep in another room until I win you over, but I wanna come home. Can a nigga come home, Nessa?”
“Yes, you can home.”
“Finally!”
“But you will be in a separate room.”
“And I’m completely fine with that. As long as Triple N under the same roof that’s all that matters to me.”
“Triple N?”
“Nas, Nessa and Nyla duh,” I laughed as I got comfortable behind her on the sofa. “Soon we will be N4.”
“I’m sixteen weeks today. He’s the size of an avocado.”
“Ok, my son puttin’ on some weight. That’s what the fuck I’m talkin’ ‘bout.”
“Not puttin’ on some weight,” Nessa giggled. “Nas I’m sorry.”
“Wait, what you sorry for?” I sat up so I could look her in the eyes.
“I’m sorry for not tellin’ you I was pregnant with Nyla.”
“Nessa, you did what you had to do at the time. I don’t blame you because I wouldn’t have been able to be there for you like I can this go around. You don’t have to apologize for not causin’ her no pain like you were dealin’ with. Hell, thank you for keepin’ my face clean with our daughter by tellin’ her I went to the military.”
“Every girl's first love is their dad even if they aren’t there. We always hope that one day they come and show us love like no other. I couldn’t break her heart especially knowing you were comin’ to her the moment you came home and found out ‘bout her. Now, are you sure you don’t want a test for this baby?”
“A test? Like a DNA test?”
“Yeah.”
“Nessa, don’t fuckin’ play with me. Why would I want a test for my son?”
