“No, not another body. Yet. But a strong lead. You have an Olivia Redman, biotech engineer, working for you.”

“Very possibly. Is she a suspect?”

“No, but she’s the sister of one—which she doesn’t need to know right at this moment.”

“You’d like me to arrange an interview.”

“Asap. We’ll go to her.”

“Give me a couple minutes. I’m about to get on the shuttle for home.”

“Great. Hey, Callendar hit Dent’s financials, pulled out buried files. So we’re good there.”

“A mild disappointment for me. Two minutes.”

Peabody smiled when he cut the call.

“With this interview, he’ll probably be home before you are.”

“Could be. We’ll need to talk to Redman’s parents, too. They’re his family, what he has left. Strong possibility he’s contacted them. Let’s head down to the garage.”

In the bullpen, all her detectives sat at their desks.

“Natural causes,” Jenkinson told her. “Poor bastard’d been dead two or three days before anybody checked. Santiago and Carmichael closed theirs.”

Both detectives held up both thumbs.

“Good work. Peabody and I are in the field.”

She risked the elevator, then got off again at the second stop when her ’link signaled.

“Olivia’s just arriving at home, and expects you. Do you need her address?”

“No, I got it, thanks. Safe flight, see you at home.”

“Looking forward to it. Best to Peabody.”

“Okay, she’s Lower East, and this is good. Good she’s at home. I want to see the place.”

“Do you think Redman’s there?”

“Family. Do a quick run.”

“Here she comes. We’re running into a lot of smart people on this one. She’s worked for Roarke almost twelve years. Married to Hector Prinz, a doctor, private practice. Eleven years on that. Parental leave in the twelve with Roarke for twins—one of each, eight years old as of last Tuesday. No criminal, so a lot of smart, clean people this round. Moved to the current address eight months after the birth of the twins.”

“Okay, that’ll do it for now.”

Together they jogged down the metal steps to the garage.

As they started to Eve’s slot, Peabody pulled out her signaling ’link.

Then let out a squeal that had Eve’s ears ringing.

“Jesus, what?”

“My sister just texted. They’ll be in New York inside a couple hours! They made really good time. I was hoping they’d make it by eight or nine tonight, but they made really good time.

“I have to text her back! I can’t wait!”
