Subject: Sausage and mash

Mash is a pain in the neck from shop to plate. First you don’t know how many potatoes to get. Then they have to be washed, eyed, peeled, scraped, chopped, boiled, skimmed, drained, and then, just when you’re ready for a sit-down, it’s time to roll up your sleeves and mash ’em. By the time they’re slopped out onto the plate you’re knackered and they’re stone cold.
