“Either of you want something to drink?” Elijah shouted from behind us. I turned and realized that in my rush to get to the widow I completely missed the open living room and kitchen I walked through.

The kitchen was very modern with a black and white color scheme that flowed into the living room. The furniture was nice looking, but I was distracted by the wall covered in bookshelves to care too much.

“This is my dream.”

“I figured you’d like that wall.”

“Your home is beautiful.”

“Thanks. I’ll pass that compliment on to my mom and her designer.”

I arched a brow. “I can’t believe those words just came out of your mouth.”

“What?”

“Could you sound any more…”

“Pompous?” Elijah suggested.

I shook my head.

“Wealthy?” Sophia offered.

I rocked my head back and forth. “Yeah, probably that one.”

Liam shrugged.

“He can’t help it.” Elijah defended, “His family is rich and so is he, but don’t hold that against him. I’ve found that the more I ignore it the more perks I get from it.”

“Like living here?” Sophia said with a smirk.

“That, and their summer trips are unreal. We went on their yacht through the Virgin Islands last year, and a three-week tour through Asia the year before.”

I narrowed my eyes. “I thought you guys only knew each other from NYU?”

“Unfortunately, no. We’ve known each other since middle school. Theater camp circles run small.” Liam shot his friend a teasing glare.

“When they cost as much as I’m thinking I would imagine it’s an elite few that attend.” Sophia shot back.

The three of them laughed while I looked between all of them.

She was speaking their language but I was in over my head.

So, Elijah was rich, too?

“Don’t worry, April. We’re just normal guys.”

“You have a trust fund that could solve the nation’s debt problem.” Liam deadpanned.

“Yeah, but that doesn’t kick in until I graduate. You’ve already got your money.”

“Because I worked for it.”

“Oh please. Starring in multiple Broadway shows as a child isn’t working.”

“Says the kid that got to go to normal schools.”

Elijah rolled his eyes. “And yet we both ended up at the same school.”
