“Kaz… I’m—”

“I know,” he hissed, his hands sliding from my hips to grasp my ass, pulling me down harder onto his cock with each thrust.

That was all it took. The knot in my core tightened, tightened, and then exploded. A cry tore from my throat as waves of pleasure crashed over me. My body felt weightless, my vision blurring at the edges.

But he wasn’t done.

As I was still cresting, lost in the throes of my climax, he wrapped his powerful arms around my waist. “Oh, no you don’t,” he grunted, and then he surged up, thrusting into me with a force that stole the air from my lungs and sent a secondary, shocking wave of bliss through me. Oh!

A strangled cry ripped from my throat. The wave crashed, a violent, shattering explosion of pleasure that sent stars bursting behind my eyelids. My body convulsed around him, my muscles clenching and unclenching.

“Still coming?” he asked roughly. He thrust up again, driving me back down onto him at the same time.

“Yes,” I managed, my voice breaking.

“Again,” he demanded, and thrust again. Harder. Deeper. “Again. Again. Again.”

Three brutal, punishing thrusts that sent me spiraling, my orgasm shattering and re-forming into something even more intense, my entire body shaking with the force of it.

Kazimir buried himself deep inside me one last time. His body went rigid, and a harsh groan ripped from his throat as he came with a shuddering, violent intensity that mirrored my own. He held me tight against him, his face buried in my neck, his breath coming in harsh pants.

We collapsed against the headboard, a tangle of sweat-slicked limbs and shuddering breaths. I slumped forward, my head resting on his chest, my body limp and boneless. I could feel the frantic beat of his heart against my cheek.

We lay there for a long time, the only sound the crackle of the fire and our own ragged breathing. Eventually, his hand came up to stroke my hair.

“Better than conquering a kingdom,” he murmured. His arms were still wrapped around me, holding me tight, as if he was afraid I might just vanish into the ether.

“Mm,” I agreed languidly, smiling against his skin.

I shouldn’t have been surprised, but each time with him somehow took me to levels of bliss I didn’t know existed, with or without magic. Kazimir was insatiable, his stamina bordering on supernatural. A war god. A sex god. Was there anything he couldn’t do?

Well, yes. Be vulnerable. He was still struggling with that.

Then again, so was I.

A shadow fell across the tower, darkening the room momentarily. Kazimir tensed beneath me, his eyes narrowing as he glanced toward the window.

“It’s just Nyx,” I said, feeling the flicker of her excitement to be home through our bond. “She’s back.”

Kazimir relaxed slightly, though his expression remained wary. “The others will be following soon, then.”

I nodded. Thorne and the rest of our party would be returning to Skyspire, bringing with them news of the outpost and, presumably, our new guest, Sebastian. The thought of dealing with all of that—the reports, the strategies, the political maneuvering—was exhausting.

“I don’t want to deal with any of them today,” Kazimir grumbled, echoing my thoughts. “Not after everything else.”

I smiled, trailing my fingers down his abdomen, feeling his body stir with renewed interest beneath me. “Maybe I can persuade you to stay in bed a little longer.”

His eyes darkened with desire, and he flipped us over until the length of his body pinned mine to the bed. “If you insist, my lady.”

My stomach growled with such violence that Arabella lifted her head from my chest to stare at me.

“Was that you or an earthquake?” she asked.
