Now, merged like this, I recognize it in his energy.
It’s so obvious, so clear as day, that the sheer astonishment of how I could ever have doubted it spreads through me like ripples across water.
So I go for this.
"Glow for me," I murmur, feeling the excitement rising.
His eyes find mine, and he smiles softly, almost as if in relief…
…and he does what I asked.
His body becomes suffused with a delicate green-gold aura filled with a million tiny sparks that tickle my skin like little electrical discharges. His eyes also brighten, emanating those same forest colors.
And yes, he's giving me exactly what the fae gave me, what I need now: sex mixed with tenderness, gentleness, sweetness.
Suddenly, it’s happening. I feel myself opening up, letting him inside me, allowing him to fully merge with me, and it makes a difference…
Our souls intertwine, and it begins.
Every small kiss he leaves feels like a tiny dose of medicine, something inside me healing, closing over every brutal thing I went through before.
Those memories start to crumble, to fade into nothing. I know this is how True Mate magic works, but experiencing it for myself is just amazing. It really doesn't just heal the body—it blurs all the bad mental stuff too.
One after another, they slip out of my head like butterflies rushing ahead of autumn, like sparks rising from a fire as it dies down, melting into warm, blissful forgetfulness, into the dark of non-existence.
The energy I had locked around the trauma of past sexual violence starts to release. My wounds are clearing out, the hurt flowing away from me, overwritten by the fae’s tenderness and gentleness. Every brush of his lips on my forehead, my chin, my eyelids, even the tip of my nose, is mending me, freeing me from the weight of the abuse.
But it isn’t one-sided.
I can feel my energy soothing his, healing the wounds within him too, brightening and untangling all those twisted knots inside him.
I close my eyes and let the True Mate magic work for us, as if we’re placing ourselves in the hands of a healer who’s taking care of our scars. But none of it is unpleasant. It’s all soaked in love, a sweet sensation that rises into pure bliss, until finally, it explodes out of us like a dawn erupting in soft pink and peach tones, lifting from our bodies in a surge of ecstasy. I shake and come, holding him tight in my arms.
"Unravel me…" I whisper, and he does. And I do the same for him.

When I open my eyes the next morning, Mauro isn't beside me.
A small wave of unease immediately washes over me, and I spring to my feet. For a brief moment, my whole body feels so light it could almost float away. I pause and listen to myself, realizing the feeling is incredible. I'm filled with energy, happiness, and a strange sense of weightlessness. I catch myself smiling, but I didn’t make it happen consciously.
My tank top is lying somewhere on the floor, so I scoop it up and pull it back over my head. I'm obviously not about to wander naked through the hallway.
I slip out as quickly and quietly as I can, hurrying back to my own room so I can take a shower. The excitement refuses to leave me, even as I let cold water run over my head. Afterward, I change into one of the plain outfits I brought with me from Florida and braid my hair, then head downstairs because it's just about time for breakfast.
With my heart pounding, I walk into the dining room. Everyone is already seated around the table, including Mauro and Veyron.
Damn… quite an audience.
The moment I appear in the doorway, the room briefly falls silent as every pair of eyes turns toward me.
Then Silvio's face breaks into a wide smile.
"I'm so glad you’ve made it, sweetheart. Today we have delicious ravazzate. It would've been a shame if you'd missed them!"
His usual relaxed tone eases some of the tension inside me. My gaze shyly drifts toward Mauro, who immediately rises from his chair as I approach the table and pulls mine out for me like a perfect gentleman. I appreciate little gestures like that. They feel like his subtle way of claiming me in front of them.
His eyes find me, so warm that I almost melt where I stand.
