“Be careful with him,” Shannon says, a hint of concern in her tone. “He’s a nice guy, but don’t you feel like something is a little off about him?”

“No, I don’t,” I snap, not meaning to jump down Shannon’s throat. “Sorry, I didn’t…” I pat Shannon’s hand on the bed and smile, “… I didn’t mean to be so harsh.”

Why am I so defensive when it comes to Killian? Maybe it’s because I’m keeping his secret from the one person who has never had a problem sharing her life with me.

I feel guilty for withholding this information from Shannon, but knowing the truth could put Killian at risk.

How stupid am I? I let him steal my car, and now I’m following him to a race outside the city. He’s taking advantage of me. And I let him. That’s the sad part.

“It’s okay,” she mutters. “I hope you know what you’re getting yourself into with Killian.”

“I can walk away whenever I want,” I lie, knowing full well I have no intention of leaving Killian in the past. “We’re just having fun.”

That much is true. Killian is not the type of guy who will settle down with me after college. I know what I’m doing when it comes to him, I think. It’s not like I expect anything serious from him. My father would never approve of Killian. Mother would hate him on sight.

I could see her confusing him for the maid’s son again like she did to the boy I brought home back in high school. She did it to embarrass him and then asked him to get her another cosmopolitan. I was mortified, and so was the boy who had no idea what he’d walked into. My home life is like another world, one most people are not accustomed to, one Killian would never understand.

“What time is he picking you up?”

I glance over at the clock on my dresser to check the time. “Ten minutes.” At first, my lack of time doesn’t register, but once it does, I jump off the bed and panic floods through my veins. “Shit, help me find something to wear.” I’m pacing in front of the bed, wondering how I’ve managed to lose this much track of time. Probably because I was too busy fantasizing about Killian and his big hands and his big…

Stop it, Jade. Focus.

“Here.” Shannon shoves a skirt and top into my hands and smiles. “Good luck.”

I smile back, knowing I will need luck to get me through another wild night with Killian.

Chapter Eleven

Killian

As I pull up out front of Jade’s sorority house, she strolls down the front steps in a black skirt that rides up her long legs and a skin-tight top which makes my dick instantly hard. I couldn’t stop thinking about Jade all day. She somehow has managed to get in my head and under my skin. The night she caught me stealing her car I knew I was fucked and not because of what she knows. And as she slides into the seat next to me, her legs open as wide as her mouth. I can’t decide where I want to touch her first.

“Hey,” she coos, pressing her lips together. A red gloss is smeared across them, and now I want it all over my cock.

“Shut the door,” I order.

She does as I say, and then leans back against the leather, sucking in a deep breath as her eyes flick to me. I reach across her body dangerously close to her big tits that are spilling out from her top as I drag the seatbelt across her chest.

Jade releases the breath of air she was holding and thanks me, even though I’m the one who should be thanking her right now. She looks hot-as-fuck, less of the spoiled brat I am used to seeing. I’m surprised she’s wearing a pair of black Chuck Taylor’s instead of her usual heels.

“What’s with the shoes?” I ask her as I round the corner.

“I wasn’t sure what to wear.” She rubs her lips together. “Last time I had to run from the police. Is this not okay?”

I glance over at her long enough to take in the sight of her body once more and smirk in approval. “No, you look perfect. Maybe a little too distracting.”

“I can hide in the back seat while you race if you want.” She chuckles. “Would that help?”

I palm her knee with my hand and electricity shoots through my body. She gasps as if she’s preparing for me to keep going.

But I can’t.

I won’t.

Not right now.

I have to maintain my focus for this race. My crew has a lot of money riding on tonight. We can’t afford to lose.

“You haven’t even raced yet,” she says. “And you’re already excited.” I raise an eyebrow at her, and she nods at my dick tenting my jeans. “Does that really happen every time?”
