“Good. I’m going to go work on our courting gift,” he said excitedly as he got up and rushed away, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
My eyes scanned over our living room after taking a sip of water. We’d been back a few weeks and our house was still lacking that cozy quality I always associated with home. Mom never would let her walls stay off-white and bare.
We’d just been so wrapped up in moving and keeping up with Runefire’s demands that this has been bottom of our priority list. If we wanted an omega to be comfortable here we had some major work to do.
And if I knew anything about Tillie, she wouldn’t appreciate fancy modern decor. She was all about thrifting and finding what made her happy, even if it didn’t quite make sense. But when she put it all together, it worked. Her outfits growing up were like that and I just knew her house would be the same.
As if my thoughts conjured her, my phone pinged. Jack had come through with the group chat.
Jack
Here is the group chat.
Kai
Thank you for explaining that.
Jack
No problem.
Aiden
Did anyone ask if Tillie wanted thrown in here? This might be too much right away.
Tillie
Thanks Aiden, but Jack did ask! I’m fine with the chat.
Aiden
Good.
Dean
I can’t wait to see you again Tillie. We had a nice time tonight.
Tillie
I did too. Tomorrow isn’t far off, alpha.
I could picture her sassy smirk that would accompany her teasing words.
It wouldn’t be soon enough
Tillie
Just as I finished messaging Jack’s pack I flopped back into my comfy bed with a giddy laugh.
The dinner kept playing through my mind— Jack’s surprise, Dean’s shock and then strong interest… Not to mention the betas, Aiden and Kai, they were intense in their own way.
I rolled over onto my stomach and snuggled into Earl who begrudgingly let me do so for a few minutes before wiggling free and running out.
Teenage me would be freaking out right now; hell, adult me was freaking out right now. Dean had definitely come into himself since he’d been gone.
The muscles of a teen had filled out and somehow he’d grown more rugged in the city than I remembered him being.
A ping called my attention and I snagged my phone, fully expecting another text in the group chat but it was someone else.
