Sabrina

Sorry, I got a work call that is an hour long meeting I forgot about. Thanks for taking care of him for me!

Tillie

Girl, you owe me. I had plans today.

Those plans were something I was happy to avoid, but I wasn’t going to tell her that. Packing was the worst and I had years’ worth of stuff in those extra rooms. My omega couldn’t stand empty rooms and somehow that turned into clutter.

What started as a way to do game research, had turned into the guys temporarily moving in. Not one of us hesitated, except the guys thinking about farm chores. We were all eager to have a chance to really dive into this relationship.

It was early, but I was eager to know more about them all.

Honestly, with meeting Jack first, and Dean and I’s history, I was grateful that Kai was coming. I needed to spend more time with him and Aiden.

I continued to pet and chat with the alpaca until a Kia sedan pulled into the driveway. Kai stepped out, and surprisingly, so did Aiden.

“Is that an alpaca, or are you just happy to see me?” Kai called out before laughing at himself. “Okay, that was bad. I was just trying to fit in.”

“Don’t,” Aiden said as he snagged the lead from Kai’s hand and approached me. His steps were careful. I appreciated that they were even willing to get this close.

“He’s kind of cute,” Kai mused as he watched. The alpaca let out a happy sound before I fit the halter and lead on.

“He is,” I agreed. “Let’s get him home.”

“How did this even happen?” Aiden asked as he fell into step beside me. “They aren’t exactly small animals that can escape easily.”

“Probably a broken gate or something. A lot of the farms around Magnolia Ridge are older and need constant repairs,” I admitted. “I’ve had to do a ton of work on mine to get it where it is now.”

The alpaca was fairly cooperative, though he did stop a few times to simply stand there before moving again. He clearly moved at his own pace.

“You’re good with him,” Kai said from my other side.

“I’ve always been really good with animals,” I told him matter-of-factly. “This isn’t the first time I’ve come to help Sabrina with an animal emergency.”

“Those sound like some interesting stories,” Kai said, wiggling his eyebrows teasingly.

“No way am I betraying my best friend,” I told him in mock-affront, putting my free hand onto my chest. “As if, beta.”

“How far away is this neighbor by the way?” Aiden asked, sweat on his brow already, though given it was a hot and humid day I didn’t blame him.

“About a mile or so down the road,” I told him easily.

“A mile?” Aiden said, coming to a complete stop.

The alpaca was on board with this, stopping to start grazing on some grass near us.

I turned to look at the other beta as Kai slid an arm around my shoulders.

“Why don’t you drive over and we will meet you there?” Kai suggested. “That way you can be in the AC and we won’t have to walk back for Tillie to get her car.”

I looked back and forth between the two of them, trying to read whatever silent conversation was going on between them but I was lost.

Aiden nodded a few times, mentioning something about needing to make a phone call then he was ambling away back to his car.

Glancing over I gave Kai a look, waiting for an explanation about what was going on.

“Aiden overheats easily and walking isn’t really his thing. Granted, it’s not mine… But I’m not wearing black jeans and a hoodie right now.” He shot me a half smile and shook his head. “He’ll be happy in the AC plus, then you won’t have to walk back in this humidity to get to your truck.”
