She looked fucking ethereal. I had wanted her before but now—I didn’t just want her, I needed her. Desperately.
But we needed to move.
We couldn’t get caught.
More would undoubtedly follow.
“We need to get out of here,” I muttered, more to myself than her.
She nodded and I swore I saw disappointment in her eyes.
Fuck.
Was it possible that she had actually wanted me too?
I couldn’t let myself go there and it didn’t matter now anyway.
The moment was gone.
I made quick work of the bodies, lighting the place after checking no humans were squirreled away hiding in any corners.
We were soon in yet another stolen car as I drove us to a motel. Going back to where we’d been staying wasn’t an option, and I was hesitant to follow the plan to our next pre-decided location. For all I knew, all of that had been compromised and they’d be waiting for us there.
The place I’d managed to find was the kind of place people passed through without leaving a trace. Perfect.
I used their pay phone to place a quick call to Marlette, letting her know what had happened and where we were. I didn’t bother with pleasantries at the twenty-four hour desk—just enough compulsion to get a key, no questions asked—and ushered Ailsa inside, scanning the room just to be sure it was safe before shutting the door firmly behind us.
I exhaled slowly as the weight of the last few hours settled in my bones.
But instead of tired, I was high on energy.
My gaze dropped to her mouth, then back to her eyes.
Her lips parted slightly, like she was about to say something.
But no words were needed; we were on the same high.
Her body crashed into mine and an unbridled need tore through me as her lips pushed against mine. I kissed her back with the same urgency.
I was too horny to think straight.
I needed to have her. Now. Finish what we had started.
Maybe if I fucked her, I’d get her out of my system once and for all so I could finally fucking focus again.
But even in the depths of my depraved old heart I knew that wasn't true. I’d never be able to get enough of her, so maybe I was just taking what I could.
I knew I wasn’t good enough for her.
She deserved the world, and I wasn't that.
But I couldn’t walk away.
Couldn’t pretend anymore.
My hand came up to her face again, slow and purposeful this time, giving her every chance to pull away.
She didn’t.
