He shrugs off my hand and glares at me. “That’s the last fucking time I’m going to talk to you about love and my sister, alright?”
“I got you.”
“Just note that if you do one thing out of line with her, I will whoop your ass into kingdom come, you got that? One fucking teardrop falls from her face on account of you and your behavior towards her, and you’re dead.”
“Received,” I reply with a nervous laugh. “Loud and clear.”

CHLOE
I’m trying to stomach some instant noodles and freaking the freak out about the meeting with the record producer tomorrow when there’s a knock on the apartment door. It’s just past midnight, so this surely isn’t a delivery.
And I know it’s not Gary because he told me he’ll be out all night on a date. Plus, he has keys.
And it’s not going to be Maddie.
What the hell…
I slowly lower my fork and cautiously tiptoe across Gary’s living room towards the door.
Who could possibly be knocking at the door at this hour?
There’s another knock.
There is somebody there.
And I do the only thing I can do.
“Who is it?”
There’s a long pause before the person – knockee? – answers back.
“It’s Bishop, Chloe. Open up.”
Oh, fuck.
He can’t be here. I’ve got the most important meeting of my life tomorrow. My entire musical future hangs on how I perform. I need to eat, shower, and then sleep so I’m ready for this nerve-wracking meeting. I cannot be dealing with this man yet again. Didn’t I tell him to leave me alone forever?
He knocks again, the bastard.
He’s not going to stop, isn’t he?
I huff, exasperated, and open the front door, but just a little bit. Enough to see the man’s very handsome face.
He’s smiling, of course. Dimples forever. Reveling in the chaos he’s brought here.
“Get lost, Bishop,” I hiss through the crack.
The moment his name leaves my mouth, the rockstar pushes against the door – and in the process me – allowing him the space to simply step into Gary’s apartment.
Asshole.
“Let’s talk properly, Chloe,” he snarls.
He confidently shuts the door behind himself as if to say that this is going to be a long talk. I have no intention of it being thus.
“You shouldn’t be here,” I bark at him, nodding helpfully towards the exit.
