I don’t say anything else to Cyrus and Juniper.

I hate what just happened there. My aggression building up in me. Those memories flooding back. I shouldn’t have allowed myself to feel like that again. I nearly lost control. I nearly lost my mind.

It was just like what happened when I floored that paparazzi. The very same feelings I came to this small town to escape.

They came back so easily.

And I must put an end to it.

I’m not going to go back to that gym. I’m never going to fight again.

ELSA

I’m leaving the clinic at the end of a very long day when I nearly bump headfirst into Cyrus. The guy is walking past work and I have to stumble back to avoid running into his wide chest.

“Woah, watch where you’re going, Elsa.”

I scoff. “You were the one walking into me, Cyrus.”

“If we were to collide, I’m pretty sure you would be the one with your ass on the ground.”

I cross my arms. “Why would you think that, smartass?”

Cyrus looks down at his massive frame and then at mine and then back at his, raising an eyebrow. “Okay, fine. Fair enough.”

We both burst out laughing.

“How are you?” I ask him.

“Good. Busy. You?”

“The same.”

“Hey, did you recommend that new guy in town to my gym?”

Oh. Caspian. Why did I blurt that out to him when he was lying on the bed?

“I did. Sorry.”

Cyrus narrows his eyes. “I don’t know your history together, but be careful around him.”

“Really? Why?”

“He’s got some real fight in him.”

No shit.

“So you’re saying he went to your gym and beat you in a fight?” I ask.

“I didn’t say that.”

“Yeah, you practically did.”

“Look, he swung by the other day. I showed him around. We had a little bit of a session, and then he just walked straight out of the gym looking angry.”

Sounds like Caspian.
