“So I won’t have to go through the initiation?” Kira asked hopefully.
“That’s right, pet.” Mark could keep his large oaf hands and small dick away from Kira. “So, let me know if you notice your abilities showing.”
“Yes sir,” Kira nodded, looking more cheered by the news than he’d expect her to be.
It reduced some of his agitation.
Kira’s gaze flickered to the neatly folded hand towel on his desk.
He allowed a few more seconds to pass, waiting for her gaze to return to his before he reached for it.
She sat still obediently as he wiped her face, making no protest as he patted off the excess cum. The rest had already dried, but he dampened the towel with water from a jug and cleaned the film off.
“There, all done,” he pronounced.
Kira stood.
“Before you go,” he said, “tell me…What’s changed? You’re awfully well behaved.”
She shrugged. “I realised you were right. I need to take your training more seriously. I feel like I’ve been looking at this dynamic between us all wrong.”
“Oh?”
“I should be focusing on what we’re trying to achieve, not on a relationship with you that was doomed before it even began.”
Her words were light, but he felt the full force of them like a blow to the head.
Kira left his office without a backwards glance, and then everything was quiet and still.
Everything was proceeding perfectly, as planned. And he felt completely and utterly alone.
Nathaniel’s loneliness stayed with him that evening, his mood only improving slightly when she joined him for dinner a few hours later in his dorm.
She sees no future with me.
Kira had clearly accepted the fact that they could never be together and moved on. As for him…
I’m just going through the motions.
They sat at the long table eating roast with the vampire students. Kira conversed freely with the others, but she hardly exchanged two words with him, except to politely tell him when he’d asked that she couldn’t feel her magic.
When he asked about Susie, however, her face lit up, and she seemed to forget her indifference as she described the books she’d borrowed from the library and taken to Susie.
To his dismay, when he asked Kira about the books, she only gave a vague response. It was as if she was purposefully shutting him out, and she suddenly became interested in a debate between Victoria and Felix.
Nathaniel’s heart ached. She’d put up a wall between them. He understood that she was trying to guard her feelings, but the selfish part of him wanted nothing more than to break that wall down and pull her close.
Suddenly, he turned to her and announced, “I want you to move in with me.”
The others fell silent, and Kira looked surprised. She covered her mouth as she finished chewing her food, and by the time she swallowed, the others had resumed chatting.
“Really?” she asked.
“Yes. It’s the logical choice in order to fast-track your training.” It was a feeble excuse, and she probably saw right through it, but he forged ahead. “I can have your things brought over from your room if you agree.”
Say you agree.
Please.
