“What? No, I…It’s just not…”
His fingers stilled. “Not what?”
“It’s not what I’m used to.”
“Hmm.” He peered at her curiously as he continued tracing circular patterns across her skin. “What are you used to?”
His question surprised her. It was too personal, even if it was kind of nice that he’d asked.
Alarm bells were ringing in her head. He was being too nice. She sensed this was a trap.
Before Susie could formulate a response, or make sense of the panic rising in her chest, Arken’s gaze lowered, a small frown creasing his forehead and his eyes growing hooded as he stared down at…
Shit.
Her legs had fallen wide apart without her realising it in response to his stroking hands, leaving her pussy exposed to his scrutiny.
She’d already been blushing, but the sight of the obvious hunger in his intense gaze made her face burn. She waited for him to climb on top of her, to mount her eagerly and drive into her, but he just…stared.
After an uncomfortably long moment, Susie broke the silence. “Headmaster? What is it?”
He blinked and looked up. “You have a tail.”
Susie’s face grew even hotter, the heat spreading to her chest. “Well, yes.” Wasn’t that obvious? Why was he acting surprised? “Did you not…notice before?”
“I did, actually.” He scraped his beard thoughtfully, causing the silver bristles to catch the dim light. “It’s just…” He trailed off.
“Just what?”
She braced herself for his answer as a spark of anger joined the nausea building in her. This was not the first time a vampire had sneered at her for being different. One had even singled her out one night for that exact reason—to make her feel bad about having a wolf-like tail sprouting right above the cleft of her ass. That was a session she had yet to recover from. She liked her tail, but the degradation she’d been subjected to had made her more self-conscious of it than ever before as she walked the school corridors. As if she had a literal target painted on her rear. She hated that the vampire had gotten to her.
Just like she hated the way Arken was about to reject her for it.
“I really like it,” he said earnestly.
Susie startled. “Excuse me?”
“I really like your tail. May I?”
It took her a second to realise he was asking for permission to touch it.
Apart from the base, he couldn’t see the rest. She’d tucked it behind her back so she was lying on it—it was not exactly comfortable, but it was an automatic precaution to prevent anyone from pulling it. Not that the vampires ever did that—even they were not that cruel—but she was not willing to risk a spinal injury for her faith in vampire decency.
“Sure,” she whispered, hesitating before she leant sideways, releasing her tail with a swish.
“Oh, my.” Arken’s eyes turned glassy as he reached to touch the bushy tail.
Susie tensed out of habit, but she needn’t have worried. As with every other touch, he was overwhelmingly gentle as he brushed her fur. She swallowed hard, watching as he stroked it several times before lingering at the white-furred tip. She was almost starting to relax.
Except the situation was far too awkward.
“Beautiful,” Arken murmured.
Susie scarcely dared to breathe. No one had ever called her tail beautiful. Like it was an attractive feature. She wasn’t sure how she felt about that, but she didn’t hate the feeling growing in her chest.
Arken’s gaze was intense. Very…intense. He was completely fixated on her, on her tail, on her face, watching for her response each time he touched her. It was unnerving, but she felt drawn to him.
Finally, he let his hand fall away from her tail, releasing a shaky breath as if to compose himself—as though he was overcome with awe. “Simply enchanting.”
