And something very interesting in the background.
Bronson leans closer. “What am I looking at?”
“Her fiancé.”
He studies the image. “Okay.”
“Specifically, what he’s holding.”
Bronson zooms in.
A small jewelry box. An expensive-looking jewelry box. With a very distinctive logo.
His expression changes. “Where did you find this?”
“Her friend’s account.”
He studies the photograph again. “Can you send me that?”
“Absolutely.”
I forward the image.
“So?”
He looks at me. “So?”
“Did I solve the case?”
He laughs. “Not quite.”
I pout.
He leans in to brush his lips against mine. “But you might have given us something worth investigating.”
Unfortunately, with my find, Bronson has to leave.
Apparently, being an actual detective involves considerably more responsibilities than simply looking handsome and kissing me.
He pulls me into his arms near my front door. “I’ll call you as soon as I get a chance.”
I raise an eyebrow. “Is that detective code for disappearing for three days?”
He grins. “Not a chance.”
“Good.”
“Actually...” He pauses. “I’d like to take you out again tonight.”
My heart practically explodes. “Really?”
“Really.”
“Another escape room?”
He groans. “Absolutely not.”
I laugh. “Fine. Dinner?”
