“Okay, stop that,” Zaire growls.
“Is it distracting?” Clint teases.
“Extremely so. I’d like to get us home in one piece. The last thing we need is to crash. Or get pulled over by the cops,” he mutters.
I snort and return to my seat between them. But I twist around, looking in the back. Felix is sitting with his long legs outstretched, looking adorably satisfied, while poor Jace is tied up, blindfolded, and gagged beside Spectre and his impressive self.
We probably didn’t need to go the full nine yards, but it seemed like if we were going to do it, we needed to do it properly.
We get back and instead of going to our house, we go straight to Clint’s. Zaire picks the alpha up and carries him into the house, where he’s tossed on the soft lounge. I crawl over him and brush my lips across his cheek.
“Welcome home, Alpha.”
He starts shouting in muffled anger.
I pull the blindfold off. His eyes are ablaze with anger. I hum over removing the gag, but in the end, I pull that off, too.
“Are you four insane? I am an officer of the law. I am supposed to uphold the rules of our society, and you are out committing felonies.”
“You were going on a date. That’s a crime against love,” I say with logic no one could argue with.
He stares at me, his mouth open wide, words lost.
“So, what? Do you want to go to jail?” he howls, losing the plot entirely.
“You would have told them we staged it,” I say confidently.
“You…I…this is ridiculous. Clint, how could you be so reckless!” Jace shouts.
Clint folds his arms over his chest mutinously. I like this look on him. He is adorable. Oh, I am going to be such a bad influence on these alphas.
Felix captures me and lifts me off the suddenly struggling alpha. “Come and eat.”
Food. Yum.
I turn, obediently following the omega and his promise of sustenance. He goes into the kitchen, opening cupboards, glancing in before shutting them. The whole time, he talks under his breath, whispering a stream of words I can’t hear, but I find it endearing.
“You kissed Clint,” he suddenly snarls.
I cock my head to the side, watching him slam a toastie maker down on the kitchen bench.
“I did. Was that wrong?”
“Yes!” he hisses.
I sway into the kitchen, out of sight of the others. “I’m not staying. But I can kiss you, too, if you’d like. I would like to kiss you. I’ve been thinking about it for months. Since the first time I saw you and your twin walking into the pub. I like kissing. But kissing you would be a memory that would last my lifetime.”
Felix looks like he’s choking. He’s got hold of the bench behind him and is staring at me like I’m an alien.
I step into his space, almost but not quite pressed against him. I stand on my tiptoes, grabbing a handful of his charcoal, long-sleeved T-shirt to keep my balance, and then I gently press my lips to his.
He doesn’t move.
I hum against his lips and suck lightly on his lower lip.
He still hasn’t moved.
So, I reluctantly let go and sink back on my heels, watching as he stares at me with wide, shocked eyes. I get this sinking, horrible feeling that I may have just stolen something that was never meant to be mine.
