Blair

My stomach tightens as Blaze walks out with his girlfriend, and I try not to look their way, keeping my head focused on the papers before me. Not at all on how fricking gorgeous she is with a slim figure, jeans that hug her nicely and a tank top, completely comfortable with her body.

They make the perfect couple…

“Okay, Blair,” Trick says as he stops beside me and I take the paperwork he’s handing me before reading as he explains tightly, “Cannon Ward, thirty years old, stabbed in the stomach, self-inflicted.” my eyes widen, “He wanted time out of solitary, and he is currently serving life for murder,” I look at Trick in shock as he takes a deep breath, “This inmate is extremely dangerous and I don’t want you too close to him. Do your checks, then get out.”

“What aren’t you telling me?” I ask Trick, seeing he’s more tense than normal for an inmate.

He gives me a grimace and admits, “The man is the leader of the Chargers,” and I freeze before I shake my head.

I’ve heard everything about them, they sell kids, for Christ's sake.

“I don’t think I can go in there without doing what Belle did to you, to him,” I admit quietly, and he grins widely.

“I’d pay to see that,” he jokes, before he says, “He wants out, he wants to escape, I don’t trust anyone else, and Clark, well, she’ll more than stab him with a needle, and I don’t trust Belle, she keeps messing up…”

I swallow hard but nod knowing she’s messed up half his patients names on purpose, blaming him for Clark’s disconnect that the whole hospital has seen. He half smiles before I turn and walk towards room four to assess the man before admitting him. Before I can take five steps, his curtain opens, shocking me, and a man full of tattoos and a bloody bandage on his stomach storms out, and without even stopping, his fist comes my way, hitting my eyebrow.

I gasp in pain as my head snaps to the side, and I fall to the floor with a thud, my head banging on it, causing me to shout out in pain.

I hear, “I’m so sorry, he said his cuffs were too tight, the officer needed me to watch him,” and I groan as I try to sit up but my arms wobble.

Freaking Belle…What is with that girl lately?

“Taser, Taser,” is shouted before I hear a lump behind me, just as Clark gently helps me sit up, then winces at my eye, and everything spins, the room going blurry, making me groan.

“Shit, I think you’ve got a concussion,” she mutters, then asks, “Do you think he may have knocked out some of your brains to dumb you down a bit?” and I choke out a laugh, kind of shocked that she recognizes me. I squeeze my eyes tight as she gently helps me stand, and I squeeze her arm as the room spins too fast.

Bile rises as I hear Trick snap, “Belle, get to HR right now!” and she pleads, “I didn’t know I was loosening them to the point he could get loose!”

“You shouldn’t have even been in there to begin with!” Trick shouts, and I groan before I quickly spin and spew my guts up, causing Clark to gasp, “Miles!” and I heave as I hear cursing.

“What the fuck?” I hear screeched, “That is disgusting, she tended to me!” echoes, and I groan as I grab my head.

Too loud, everything is too loud…

Clark snaps, “She was hit by a patient!” which goes through me, and I blink, then blink again, before I wobble and my knees buckle.

“Shit,” I hear before strong hands grab me underneath my arms, before I hear, “Blaze! You don’t need to touch her.”

Well, this has got to be embarrassing…

Hit at work, vomiting in front of everyone, then falling into a guy my body seems to want, my body that is tingling, a guy who is taken…

“I’m going to call Ms. Hallows,” Clark states, and I choke, “Okay,” as I try to stand, but instead I sway backwards, causing, who I’m now guessing is Blaze, to pick me up bridal style, and I groan, “I think I’m going to be sick again…” And he curses.

“Blaze!” I hear his girlfriend snap and I flinch at how loud it is and he growls, “Go and get your fucking phone out of the room El!” before I feel something soft hitting my back and I groan as I turn on my side and more bile comes up causing Blaze to curse just as Trick says, “Here brother,” and a sick bowl is placed near my mouth.

“My head hurts,” I choke just as Trick cups my cheek and flashes a light in my eyes, and I flinch back, and he curses again.

“You’ve got a grade two concussion,” Trick snaps.

I groan, “Oh great, can I stab him with a needle now?” and Trick snorts.

“What’s a grade two?” Blaze asks, and I answer, “Dizziness, disoriented, nausea…”

“I thought you were an accountant?” he asks with humor, though his voice is still tight, just as I hear, “Baby?”
