He smirks as he puts his hand in his pocket before holding up a ring I know all too well, and I whisper, “Linc…”
“It was in the envelope, you didn’t see it because you were emotional, so I’ll tell you again, we’re getting married before we go home. I want you tied to me in every way possible and that cut you’re wearing and my baby in your belly is not enough. Shortcake, as I said, the amount of time, it’s just a number,” he rasps and my tears fall as I hold up my left hand and smiling, he gently pushes my mom’s silver engagement band with little diamonds surrounding it onto my finger before he grabs hold of my hand and presses his lips against mine.
This man is facing his fears head-on, and I can’t help loving him even more for it because he’s helping me overcome my abandonment issues.
“Take me to bed, Linc,” I demand against his lips, and he smirks and replies, “My fucking pleasure,” before calling, “Snow!” and whistling for her, and without removing himself from inside me, my fiancé lifts me up with ease and walks us into the house, our dog following without hesitation.
Chapter 21
Blaze
I bite my bottom lip as I watch my girl sleep, the sheets just covering her while Snow sleeps by my feet, where I’m sitting near the window, my mind running fucking circles.
She’s pregnant, we’re having a baby, and I need to do everything fucking possible not to fuck this up. I need to protect them both like my life depends on it, meaning getting rid of the people who are a danger to her.
Mitchel, Poppy… El.
I’m struggling with the last one, and I know if I spoke to the club, they’ll do it without hesitation, but fuck, I wanted to save her from the trailer life, and I feel like I failed her, even if she did play me.
Claiming her would have put the club at risk, and instead of seeing that, I doubled down just because I wanted to run from my feelings.
I sigh as I drop my head. I put the club at risk, my family who took me in before they even realized I was Killer's son.
Swallowing the lump forming, I grab my phone out of my jeans that I put back on to let Snow out after Blair passed out, and I bring up my brother's number before pressing on it.
“How is she?” he answers within two rings, and I smile slightly.
“I’m going to be a dad, little brother,” I admit instead of answering, and he sucks in a breath as I continue, “It’s why she needed to run for a minute, she’d found out she was pregnant, and I was still mid-freakout. We’re having a baby…”
“And that baby will be fucking loved, do you hear me?” he says fiercely just as Alex gasps, “I’m going to be an auntie again?” and I smile as she mutters, “Crap, no wonder why she needed a breather…”
“Tell me you hear me, Linc, tell me you understand how loved this baby is going to be and how much of a fucking good dad you are going to be?” he says fiercely, not answering his wife.
I choke, “I hear you,” before I whisper, “We’re getting married tomorrow, and I would really love it if my little brother and sister-in-law could make it. Bring Ms. Hallows, and while you are at it, little brother, get yourself ordained because I cannot imagine anyone else marrying my girl and me.”
“I’m there, in a fucking heartbeat I am there,” he croaks, and my eyes sting with the love I fucking feel from him.
Despite me taking his role, despite Killer ruining his childhood, and despite him distancing himself from me because he didn’t want me to have a negative reaction to his parents, he’s always there for me.
“Thank you, Hayes,” I whisper as I look at my girl still sleeping, and my heart clenches knowing she’s mine. I’m really fucking doing this, something I swore I’d never do.
The wife, the baby, the house with a picket fence and a yard and a fucking dog.
Yet here I am, and fuck, I am happy, she makes me happy.
“I can’t believe I’m saying this, but fuck, what about Mom?” Crusher whispers, “Dad, whatever, fuck him, he’s a prick on the best of days, but Mom…”
I swallow hard as I look down for a moment before I mutter, “Bring her,” and I swear I hear Alex sob.
“I’m proud of you,” he murmurs before he states, “We’ll be at the beach house by twelve with the license, and I will be ordained.”
He hangs up before I can say anything, and I drop my hand as I shake my head.
“You’re changing your whole views, and you’re struggling,” a sweet voice whispers before sheets rustling echoes, and I hum.
“You’re supposed to be asleep, resting,” I murmur as I look up to find my beautiful girl covering her body with my shirt before she walks over to me. Without a second thought, I lean back before she slowly climbs onto my lap, straddling me, and I smile as I run my fingers through her hair then gripping the back as she leans her front against mine.
“I felt lonely,” she admits and fuck me, my heart.
