“Now that we got all that out of the way, let’s go.” Cara took the hat in her hand and pulled it over her head.
My heart rate sped up when I realized it was a fuckin’ ski mask!
“Cara, why the hell do you have that?” Sofia asked with wide eyes.
“No face. No case. Let’s go.”
“Oh God. We’re going to jail,” Sara whined but followed behind Cara.
We crept to the side of Bentley's house, heading to the back gate. Cara tried to lift every window we passed until she got lucky with the fourth one. Once she had it opened, she crawled inside. Sara went in just as easily. This window was a little high, so they had to assist us. Bianca was the last one through the window. The house was pitch black, making it hard to see.
All of sudden, we heard a loud thud followed up with a cry. “Owww!” Bianca whined. “Why the hell does Bentley leave his shoes all over the house?”
“Will you shut it,” Cara whispered-shouted. “Next time, I’m leaving y’all. Can’t even break into a house properly.”
“Well, excuse me for not knowing how to be a criminal!” Bianca hissed sarcastically.
“Who the hell is in my house?!” Bentley roared right before the lights were turned on.
I quickly covered my eyes when I saw my brother. Not that it saved me from seeing what I just had. My brother was only wearing a pair of briefs, holding a baseball bat. Before I covered my eyes, I saw the bat he had swinging between his legs.
Ewwwww!
“Twin… I get it now,” I heard Cara say.
I dropped my hand to glare at her. “Cara!” Bianca and I screamed in unison.
“What? I’m married, not blind. That thing looks like it wraps around his neck at night. Oscar really might be pregnant in spirit,” she argued.
I heard Bentley howling with laughter. Only he would think this situation was funny. “What are you doing here, Oscar?”
“You haven’t been answering my calls.”
“Don’t forget to tell him you thought he had somebody over here,” I snitched.
Oscar gasped, slapping a hand to his chest like he was offended. “Twin, you were right. Next time we leave their asses at home.”
Next time? He was seriously already planning to do this again.
“Why don’t you just come through the front door next time? You know where the spare key is,” Bentley suggested.
Was I in the Twilight Zone? I was starting to feel like Bianca and I were the only sane ones in the group. Sara and Sofia didn’t say anything because they were too busy laughing as if the entire scenario was normal.
“But why haven’t you answered my calls? You never go an entire day without talking to me.”
“I was sick, baby. I took a bunch of meds, and I slept all day.”
“Sick?!” Cara repeated. “Oh hell no. Let me get the fuck out of here. It will just be my luck to carry those germs home to my babies. I do not want to deal with five sick little humans.” She made her way to the window and stopped before turning around to face my brother. “Next time, send a message, smoke signal, or something. Because if I have to come over here again, me and Oscar are jumping your big ass.”
“Thanks, Twin!” Oscar shouted as she jumped out the window. Sara and Sofia were right behind her.
Before Bianca and I could make our exit, we heard our brother’s voice. “Don’t think you two are getting off easy. I’m definitely telling Pops.”
Bianca and I rolled our eyes, then jumped out the window. “Next time, I’m staying home and minding my own business. I’ll let him face the demonic duo all on his own,” I said as we walked out the gate.
“Same, sis.” Bianca held her hand in the air for five.
