Drum gasped. He sat next to Osian on a small, but beautiful beach. Turquoise water stretched out as far as he could see, meeting the horizon in a shimmering line. Just in front of them, small waves lapped at the shore, running back to leave lacy trails on the wet sand. He turned to Osian. “Is the water warm?”

Osian laughed. “You’re so demanding.”

“Can you make the sand not sticky?”

“Why?”

“Can you make lube?”

Osian’s eyes darkened. Drum began to strip but Osian was naked first.

“I can’t make the sand not stick to us but I can make a large blanket.”

It appeared beneath them, lube as well, and Drum smiled. He squirted some onto his hand, then pulled Osian in. As he kissed him, he moved his fingers over his arse, parting his cheeks, sliding them down the crease while Osian groaned. Kiss and slide, over and over, then pressing inside with one finger, then two, until Osian was gasping against his mouth. Drum was drowning in lust. This was everything.

“I need you now!” Osian flung himself onto his back and spread his legs.

Drum rubbed a wet finger around the head of Osian’s cock and smiled when he shuddered. “You are so beautiful. Even your ears.”

“What do you mean, even my ears.” Osian glared. “Know what the word now means?”

“Yes.” Drum wrapped his fingers around Osian’s cock and dragged his hand up. Then he lifted his fingers to his mouth and licked up the precome he’d gathered.

“Drum!” Osian whimpered.

Drum shifted his knees, then pushed against the entrance to his body and as he kissed him, he sank into him, felt the tight grasp around his cock and felt blissed out. They swallowed each other’s moans as Drum began to fuck him, deep hard thrusts that went on and on. His skin was on fire, the telltale rush of sensation sweeping over him as his body wound itself up.

Osian had his legs and arms wrapped around him as Drum sank as deep as he could. He wanted the kiss to last forever, but he had to pull away to gulp air and Osian smiled at him.

“Do you…not need to breathe?”

“Not as much as you, grá mo chroí thú.”

Every thrust into Osian made Drum groan with pleasure. He felt as if some supernova would light up the world when he came, when Osian came.

“Together!” Drum gasped.

And as Osian stiffened beneath him, Drum came at the same time. His brain had short-circuited, every cell in his body spiking with fire. The sensation was exquisite and he never wanted it to end, even as he felt it ending, the spasms of his body lessening. It would never be enough.

Osian was pulling him in, licking and kissing and sucking and nipping at his face until Drum sucked air into his lungs and gasped. For a moment, the world blinked out, then he found himself thrown into cold water and he came up like a rocket to find Osian grinning at him.

“Not warm enough?” Osian asked.

Drum pounced.

Chapter Twenty-Four

There was only one regular taxi driver in Sparlow, and he was currently taking Osian and Drum to Watson’s Stables. Tonight was a bittersweet double-billing: a farewell to the stables from Fi and Will, and an engagement party for Fi and Noel. Stan Motson wanted to buy the stables and had applied for planning permission to build a new home for himself and his son. He’d resigned from the parish council, pulled out of all his business deals and seemed to want to live a quiet life.

His home in Taplow had been sold and his wife was in prison, having confessed to the murder of two elderly women—one of whom was her own mother-in-law, purely to get the old lady’s money before it was all used up by the care home. It was a grim business, and Drum took absolutely no pleasure in having been right about her.

Purbeck and his team had found her DNA on both victims and Drum had been thanked for his work. He’d also been offered a job as a detective sergeant at High Burton, which had made him smile but he’d turned it down.

The taxi pulled up on the road. The lane to the stables was already full of cars.

“Will you be able to pick us up later?” Drum asked as he settled the fare.

“No problem at all,” the driver replied. “Just give me a ring when you’re ready.”
