I cleared my throat. “Great. Amazing, yay for my dick.”

“Now, who said it was yours?” Jake asked, grinning when I looked askance at him. “I mean, I’ve showered with like…everyone, except Xander. Could’ve been anyone’s, maybe it was Colin’s?”

“Hilarious,” I grumbled and got to my feet. “Now c’mon Mr. Comedian, let’s get you back to the clinic before Colin drags you back by your ear. Or your dick, apparently.”

His chuckling made me more than happy to stand there and watch him struggle to get out of his seat. It wasn’t as if he could rely too heavily on his core with his injured ribs, or get much traction with only one functioning arm. He glanced at me as I watched, arms folded over my chest, brow raised.

“Need help?” I asked in a sweet voice.

“Maybe,” Jake muttered as he continued trying to get up and flailed when he almost sent the chair and himself crashing to the ground. He leaned back with a hiss. “Ow.”

“Just need to hear a few special words,” I said.

“I’m sorry?”

“Nah.”

“It was your dick that made me want to try sucking dick for the first time?”

“N…no.”

“I really liked sucking your dick and wanna do it again?”

“Jake!”

“Oh. Is it that I wanna try fuckin’ you when I feel better, but I’m definitely okay with you fuckin’ me until then?”

“Bro, seriously?” I gasped, feeling my face warm as images of what he was suggesting invaded my mind. “Jake!”

“Oh,” he said with a grin. “Is it…please help me get out of the chair before I fall and bust myself because the chair keeps sinkin’ into the ground?”

“There,” I muttered as I stepped forward, took hold of his good arm and helped him get to his feet. The chair buckled, and he stumbled forward into me, wrapping his arm around my chest so he could keep us both upright. His weight against my back wasn’t too much, and it was strangely pleasant having him pressing into me, his arm hugging me close as he regained his footing.

“Sorry,” he muttered after finally releasing me. “I hate this shit. It’s only been a lil while and I feel like the most useless fuckin’ creature in existence.”

“Pretty sure babies are technically more useless.”

“Yeah, but they’re cute.”

I turned and poked his nose. “You have your moments.”

He snorted softly. “Thanks.”

“You really came out here just to rest?” I asked, grabbing the chair before his stubborn ass could think about reaching for it.

“Well,” he said sheepishly, frowning at the chair as I folded it up to tuck under the arm that wasn’t helping him. “Was kinda lookin’ for the family but realized I wasn’t gonna make it out there on my own.”

“Oh,” I said, smiling a little. “I already went looking for them.”

“Oh yeah? Shoulda figured,” he snorted as we made our way back carefully. He pulled away from me at one point. “Ya find ’em?”

“What’s left of them, yeah,” I said with a shake of my head. “Only saw one adult and two of the babies though. They’re further downstream.”

“Aww, some didn’t make it?”

“Dunno, but…probably not. Their home got messed up. The ones that made it are about as lucky as you are to have survived, in all honesty.”

“Geez,” he grumbled as the medical building came into sight. “That sucks.”
