She laughed through the tears.
Encouraged, he continued. “You’ve been my favorite person for most of my life.”
The tears spilled over.
“I loved you before I understood what it meant. I loved you when we were kids. I loved you when you drove me insane. I loved you when you left.”
His voice roughened.
“And I love you now. Even if you weren’t my baby mamma,” he said, grinning when she laughed huskily.
Daniel brought his other hand forward and opened his fingers, palm up, displaying a simple gold band.
“I bought it when I got back from Oklahoma. I wasn’t going to let you get away again, Blair.”
Blair made a tiny, strangled sound.
“You’re carrying our child.”
His thumb brushed across her knuckles.
“We have a home.”
He glanced toward the greenhouses visible through the bedroom windows.
“Three greenhouses, because one could never be enough for my wee green thumb.”
A watery laugh escaped her.
“And I want every ridiculous, wonderful thing that comes after this. Marry me, Blair Barr.”
He let go of her hands, and they instantly flew to her mouth.
“Marry me and keep filling my house with plants and embroidered shit, throw pillows, and fourteen hundred throw blankets your friends and my mom and aunts think we need.”
She laughed harder.
“Marry me and let me spend the rest of my life loving you.”
For a second she didn’t speak. Then she nodded.
Once.
Twice.
Wildly.
“Yes,” she signed and cried at once.
Daniel's heart stopped.
Then restarted.
“Yes?”
“Yes!”
The ring barely made it onto her finger before she launched herself at him.
