“Working on it. The footage quality varies by venue, and he’s careful about cameras. But I’ve got enough for facial recognition. Running it now.”

“How long?”

“A few hours, maybe less. I’ll call when I have a name.”

Hope swelled in my chest. This could be over soon. Harper could be free. “Send me what you’ve got.”

“Already done. Check your email.”

I disconnected and pulled up Colton’s message on my phone. A dozen photos filled the screen. All grainy security footage from various venues. As promised, the same man appeared in each one, though never clearly. Always turned slightly away from cameras. Attention fixed to Harper.

Same build and posture. Same hair and jawline.

She moved to my side, looking at the screen. Her hand trembled as she pointed to one image. “That’s the Listening Room. I remember that show.”

“Do you recognize him?”

She studied each photo, zooming in, examining the pixelated face. Finally, she shook her head. “No. But there were hundreds of people at these shows. Thousands at others.”

“He’s been careful.” I scrolled through the images again. The pictures from her first show were the worst, the venue the smallest. He hadn’t shied away from the cameras then. Maybe that was where the obsession began. By the time Harper played bigger gigs, he knew what he was doing, and that he shouldn’t be doing it. He hid his face accordingly. I clenched and released one fist at my side, urging the anger to dissipate until it had somewhere to go.

“Do you think Colton can ID him based on these?”

“He’s very good.” I glanced at her. “If there’s enough data, he’ll find a match.”

Harper exhaled a shaky breath. “Okay. Good. That’s good.”

“It is,” I agreed.

“What happens when we have his name?”

“Then we find him. We get all the information we’ve collected to Nashville authorities and have him picked up. Meanwhile, Nash and his deputies will be on the lookout here. He’ll be located and arrested one way or the other.”

She lifted her chin, eyes set with resolve. “What else can I do? I’m tired of running and being afraid.”

“Nothing yet, but I like the enthusiasm.”

She released a sharp breath of air. “There has to be something. I’m the center of this thing. There has to be more I can do to help.”

My phone buzzed with a text.

Knox: We’re starting a full camera review. We’ll wait if you or Harper want to join us.

“Knox wants to review all the security footage,” I told Harper. “Make sure we didn’t miss anything. What do you need to do to get ready?”

“Change into something warmer and grab my wig.”

I typed back: Give us thirty minutes.

I had to hit the shower.

Knox’s Jeep sat beside Colton’s truck when we pulled into Island Adventures’ parking lot.

Inside, both men looked up from Colton’s laptop.

“Harper.” Knox stood. “Good to see you again.”

“Thanks.” She moved to the table where Colton had multiple windows open on his screen. “Let’s see what you’ve got.”
