“I know everything that’s important.”
“You do not.” I push him against the wall. “I hate to break it to you, but a great pair of tits isn’t love. That’s lust.”
“It’s not just her tits. Or her ass. Holy fuck, her ass.” He groans, irritating the shit out of me.
“Stop. Right. There!”
“It’s not just that. It’s her eyes. Her face. She has the face of an angel. An absolute angel. Please tell me you’re going to let her stay here because I’m going to marry her.”
“Stop! Do not say another word. I don’t want you to say anything about her. I don’t want you to even think about her. If you fuck this up, I will cut your nose off this time.”
He gasps and steps back, a hand over his face. “You wouldn’t. Why bring my nose into this? I sneezed once.”
“Fine. I’ll leave your nose out of it. I’ll cut your dick off if anyone finds out that she is here.”
His mouth falls open, and his eyes go comically wide. He cups his junk with both hands.
“If I see you anywhere near my hallway. If I hear you so much as whisper anything to do with her, you’d better pack up and leave, because if I get my hands on you…”
“Okay. Okay.”
“You need to forget she even exists.”
“That’s impossible.”
“Brian.”
“Okay, fine.” He nods hard. “Sheesh! I won’t mess anything up, boss. I swear.” Then that grin starts creeping back. “Are you sure I can’t see her again before—?”
“I’m done with this conversation. I need to see Dr. Pryce. I’ll see you on the pad in half an hour.” I walk off down the hallway.
“Sorry,” he calls after me.
I ignore him and march to Pryce’s office.
His door stands open. He’s at his desk with a pen in hand and a stack of files at his elbow, glasses sitting straight for once.
“Flint. Good morning…again.” He waves me toward a chair.
“Morning.” I stay on my feet.
“You all ready to head out?” he asks.
I nod.
“Hopefully, you’ll have more luck today.”
“We’ll have to see. I know we’ve only captured two more males in the last few days, but I’m sure things will pick up soon.”
“I hope so.” He looks worried.
“Problem is, the word is spreading out there. They know we’re out looking to capture them. They might be feral, but they’re not stupid.” I tap the edge of his desk. “We may need to make a few adjustments to how we do things.”
“What kind of adjustments?”
“I have a few ideas. I’ll work on them and send you a report in the next day or two.”
He nods. “Sounds good.”
