She laughs. “I had a dream about it. Well, a couple of dreams.”
“You knew I was sleeping with Nathan this whole time?”
“Oh, god, no. I only found out when Max told me.” She smiles fondly. “But I kept seeing you in an office doing, uh, things with a masked man.”
“Please tell me you didn’t tell my brother about any of those things.”
She laughs at my horrified expression. “Of course not.”
“Good.” A beat passes, and Nathan appears in the dining room wearing an apron and pot holders, carrying a pie, looking fucking delicious in all his domestic glory.
“We’re thinking of moving to Moonvale,” I blurt.
Mona’s eyes widen. “Really? The cutest house just went on the market across the street from Caleb and Tomas! You should come tour it tomorrow, before someone else snaps it up.”
My stomach flutters with excitement, and I don’t let myself squash it down like I would’ve in the past. “That sounds amazing. I’ll make Nathan drive us out first thing in the morning.”
“Psh, you don’t need to make that man do anything for you.”
I grin, waving at Nathan as he raises a brow at me. “True. He’d do anything for me.”
“Kind of a mindfuck, isn’t it?” Mona replies knowingly.
“Yeah…” The urge to go plant another sloppy kiss on my mate rises.
I resist. I’ll kiss him all over when we get home.
When everyone settles around the dining table, Nathan clasps my hand under the table.
I give him an apologetic smile, and his brow furrows. “Let’s get this over with.”
“Get what over with?”
I clear my throat to get everyone’s attention, looking around the table. “It all started when I was super depressed because I lost my job and had to move back to my parents’ house, and the only thing keeping me sane was hooking up with strangers.”
Nathan chokes on his wine, and Mona’s face lights up in delight that I’m going for it.
Why the hell not? Mom and Dad have made us suffer through the tale of their smutty courtship. It’s time for some payback.
I grin sharply, gaining confidence. “So…I went to a kink club for a masked night, like any healthy succubus would do. And you wouldn’t believe who the mysterious man who rocked my world ended up being—”
Nathan grips my thigh hard under the table in warning.
“It’s tradition,” I say, laughing as his nails dig into my thigh.
“You’re going to pay for this later, little devil,” he rasps into my ear as he puts his arm around my shoulders.
A shiver of delight runs through me. “I can’t wait.”
