Merlin quickly ate as I took my clothes off, debating if I should take a quick rinse. It shouldn’t have been a question, I smelled like cigars and that corset had left me sweaty. Turning the kettle off, I jumped into the shower, rinsing the day away quickly. Once I was comfy, I turned on my kettle, getting a few herbs to make my tea. Some chamomile, calendula, and oat straw to help me wind down.

My bag stared me down from the door, a low whisper to do the love spell quickly. My intuition was never wrong, but my cards had never steered me wrong either. Begrudgingly, I grabbed my bag, opening the small pouch I put her piece of paper inside of. I had her write the name of the man she wanted this love spell for. I placed the paper on my altar, waiting for my intuition to tell me no, but I only felt the need to do the spell.

Maleficent brushed against my legs purring loudly.

“Hello, pretty girl,” I said, petting her, enjoying the attention she was giving me. “Tell me not to do this spell.”

She only purred louder pushing into my hand.

“Fine, I’ll get on it,” I huffed, as she followed me, as if she was making sure I was doing the spell.

My living room was my apothecary with big custom shelves I had made myself. They housed all my tools, herbs, candles and anything I needed for my business. Pulling out all my ingredients, placing them on top of my small worktable, hating how right making this spell felt. I lit incense to cleanse all my tools, herbs and crystals needed. My body took over from muscle memory, creating the spell in a jar. I slid the name she had written in the jar, grabbing another piece of paper and a pen to write her name down.

Maleficent brushed against my feet again. “What is up with you, girl? Are you trying to tell me something?”

I looked down at her as I wrote. She meowed again, pushing against me. I shook my head, folding the paper towards me, pushing it into the bottle with more herbs. I topped off the jar with rose quartz, sealing it with a cork. Maleficent walked over my table knocking over the jar. I caught it quickly putting it against my chest.

“Are you feeling ok?” I scratched her head.

She laid her head against my hand that was holding the jar.

“Girl, I have to finish this spell.”

She meowed back as if she was responding. When she didn’t move, I said the last of my spell.

“I open their hearts to love. They are worthy of love. They attract kind, loving, and gentle energy. Surround them by love and light. So it is, and so it shall be.”

She moved as soon as I was done, walking away leaving me in the living room alone. I shook my head as I sealed the jar with wax and left it in the window so the moon could give her blessing if she wished.

Xiomara

I CAN BE A WHORE FOR FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS.

Guadalupe Maria Mora looked through my herbs with judgement in her brown eyes. She scrunched up her nose reading some labels as I prepared for her critiques. Maleficent stood close by my abuela, watching her intently.

“Milk and sugar? I asked.

“Yes, and don’t give me that processed crap,” she said, grabbing a jar and inspecting it.

“Never.” I scowled.

“Don’t stir it either,” she said, sitting at my worktable since I didn’t have an actual dining table. “Don’t need you manifesting something I don’t want.”

I chuckled while taking our coffees to the table.

“I wouldn’t do that to you,” I said, setting her cup down in front of her.

Yeah right, mija,” she said, holding her hands against the cup.

I smirked while doing the same.

I will have a good workday and make lots of money.

I stirred my coffee clockwise to bring in my intention towards me, tapping the spoon three times.

“So, mote it be.”
