Keith’s expression shifted from confusion to disbelief. His gaze snapped to mine. “You get naked in front of them?”

His arm tightened around me, not enough to hurt, but enough that I felt the instinct behind it. Keith had always been protective. After surviving alone, after thinking I was dead, and after finding me pinned under an undead leopard, I knew that instinct had to be screaming inside him.

“It’s protocol,” Mad said flatly.

“We’ve been doing it since day one,” Oxi added.

Keith looked at him, and something unspoken passed between them. It didn’t look pleasant.

I started pulling off my jacket because if I didn’t do something with my hands, I was going to fall apart.

Keith caught my wrist. “Spencer.” His voice dropped. “Why are you taking your clothes off in front of them?”

The room went still.

Mad didn’t even look up as he set his axe beside the door. “Because if she’s bitten and we miss it, she won’t be the only one dead.”

“That doesn’t mean—”

“She’s our girlfriend, too,” Luck blurted out.

Keith went completely still.

Oxi closed his eyes for half a second like he was bracing for impact.

Mad’s head lifted slowly.

Luck looked like he regretted nothing and everything at the same time. He mouthed, ‘sorry’ to me.

Keith turned his head and looked at me.

My heart pounded.

There was hurt in his eyes. Not anger. Hurt. That was worse.

“Luck is right,” I confirmed softly. “But I never stopped loving you.” I moved closer to Keith. “Not for a second. I thought you were gone. I thought I lost you.”

His jaw tightened.

“But they…” I glanced back at Mad, Oxi, and Luck. “They took care of me. They protected me. They helped me survive losing you.”

“Spencer…” He glanced between me and them.

The words scraped my throat raw. “I fell in love with them, too.”

Mad, Oxi, and Luck froze.

Keith just stared at me as he processed it. His hand slipped from my wrist.

I hated how cold my skin felt without his touch.

“All of them?” he asked finally, voice quieter now.

I nodded.

There was another long pause accompanied by a distant creak through the warehouse.

Keith dragged a hand through his hair, looking between the three of them, then back at me. His eyes moved over my face like he was searching for something. “This apocalypse is insane,” he muttered under his breath.
