“Leave it alone.”
That was exactly what I wasn’t going to do.
I picked up my phone.
Rome’s eyes followed the movement.
“Kai.”
I opened my camera.
“Khalil.”
“Smile.”
The baby happened to turn toward me at the perfect moment.
Click.
Rome’s entire face changed.
“Delete that shit.”
I looked at the picture.
It was perfect.
Big scary Roman Devereaux sitting in the middle of his expensive-ass living room with a tiny curly-haired baby tucked comfortably against his chest.
I sent it.
Rome started to rise.
“Delete—”
My phone rang before Rome could finish threatening me.
I looked at the screen and immediately started laughing.
**MAMA.**
Rome saw the name and closed his eyes.
“Don’t answer that shit.”
“Oh, I’m answering.”
“Kai.”
Too late.
I accepted the FaceTime call, and Sugga’s face filled the screen. I barely got the phone turned toward Rome before she went completely silent.
Her eyes landed on the baby curled against his chest.
Then they widened.
“What the hell?”
