Our eyes met.
Her entire face changed.
First recognition.
Then surprise.
Then immediate irritation.
I grinned.
Yeah.
She remembered my ass too.
I looked back at my date. “Important business.”
Before she could ask another question, I walked away.
Zari watched me coming with the same expression people probably had when they saw a tornado heading toward their house.
I slid onto the empty stool beside her.
“Well, well, well.”
She closed her eyes.
Didn't even say hello.
Just closed her damn eyes like she was asking God for strength.
I rested my elbow on the bar. “That's how you greet people?”
Her eyes opened slowly. “Why are you over here?”
“Damn. Nice seeing you too.”
“I didn't say it was nice seeing you.”
“But your face did.”
“My face said go away.”
“Your face lying.”
She turned toward me completely now, one eyebrow lifting.
“You always this irritating?”
“Only when I'm attracted to somebody.”
That shut her up for approximately two seconds.
Then her eyes rolled.
I smiled wider.
There she was.
