Heat pooled between her legs, and she squeezed them together to relieve the ache. Her head lolled back, and Chase gently pushed on her shoulders to get her to lie on her back. Then he began licking a path down the middle of her chest to the waistband of her shorts.
He unbuttoned and unzipped them in a flash and began sliding them down her legs, taking her panties along for the ride and then tossing them off the bed. She glanced down and watched as he slowly slid back up her body and then nudged her legs apart.
“Beautiful,” he whispered before his head disappeared between her legs.
She practically bucked off the bed, arching her hips to meet his tongue. “Chase…”
Gripping her hips to keep her in place, he feasted on her like a starving man at a buffet.
He brought her to the brink of ecstasy, and then suddenly he pulled away and rolled off to the side.
“What…?”
He grinned. “Don’t move.”
Like she was going anywhere! Before she knew it, he was naked, sheathed, and crawling back over her. She eagerly reached for his erection, gliding her hand up and down his hard length.
“Need inside you,” he said gruffly.
She nodded and guided him to her entrance. At this point, she was so worked up she could hardly wait for him to fill her. But he seemed intent on drawing it out—inching forward and then withdrawing until she was writhing with need.
He was keeping most of his weight off her, and she watched his arm muscles bulge with the effort.
“Watch us, Callie. Look at me loving you.”
Loving me? Does he realize what he just said? But his eyes were focused south, and he continued teasing her, slowly lifting both of them to the height of pleasure. Their bodies were slick with sweat, and she grabbed onto his hips, her eyes following the path of his movements.
The next time he slid forward, she cried out. “Chase…”
“Tell me. Tell me what you need.”
“I need more. I need…you!”
His head popped up, and their eyes caught and held. At that moment, she saw everything in stark relief. It was like the whole room was lit up even though it was pitch black. She saw him gazing down at her, his eyes brimming with emotion, and she felt her own fill with tears.
He brought a hand up and cupped her cheek. “Callie,” he whispered.
“I know.”
And then they both let go. All their physical and emotional longing was laid bare as they reached the peak together amidst a hailstorm of moans and sighs.
He kept moving until they were completely drained. Then he gently rolled them to their sides and held her close as their breathing evened out and the sweat dried on their skin.
Callie was afraid to move and break the spell that cocooned them. Right then they were the only two people in the world, and everything was perfect.
Chase lay still, his eyes closed and his chest rising and falling with every breath. She studied him, committing every nuance of his gorgeous face to memory. This time, though, it wasn’t for her book. It was for her own personal story. Even if she never saw him again, she’d always remember this moment.
Then his eyes popped open, and he smiled at her. “Hey.”
“Hey.”
“I thought you might have fallen asleep.”
He shook his head. Then he took her left hand and placed it over his heart. “Feel that?”
She nodded, his heart pounding beneath her fingers.
“I was worried I was having a heart attack,” he said with a grin.
