Zane and Marco sauntered up to the hostess station at The Mucky Duck.
“You two again,” Tessa teased. “And you’re alone?”
“Hopefully, not for long,” Marco said and winked at her.
“Such a flirt.”
“What are you doing after work?”
“Nothing with you.”
Zane laughed. He loved that she put Marco in his place every time.
“Your loss,” Marco said flippantly.
Ignoring him, she took two menus out of the wooden holder. “Inside or outside?”
“I’ll follow wherever you lead,” Marco said.
She rolled her eyes. “This way.”
Zane suppressed another laugh while they followed her to a table in the center of the outdoor patio.
“Your waitress will be right with you.” Tessa set down the menus and flounced off, and Marco’s gaze followed her.
Zane shook his head. “You’re losing your touch, my friend.”
“Me? What about you? You haven’t gotten laid since I can’t remember when.”
“It wasn’t that long ago.” It had only been a couple of months, but to Marco, that was like an eternity.
A waitress approached the table and smiled. “Hi, my name is Macy, and I’ll be taking care of you tonight. What can I get you to drink?”
“Are you new, Macy?” Marco asked.
Here we go, thought Zane.
“I just started last week.”
“That explains why I’ve never seen you here before.”
She giggled.
“I’ll take a Corona,” Zane interrupted.
“And for you?” Macy asked Marco.
“Same.”
“Be right back,” she said.
“You never get tired of it, do you?” Zane said.
“Hell, no. Macy’s a pretty girl, don’t you think?”
“Not as pretty as Tessa.”
