We turned toward her.
She pointed to Emily standing beside her in the picture.
“Emily is in it.”
“Then who took it?” Trigger asked.
Rylie stared at the screen.
“I remember that night.”
Her voice had become distant.
“The camera belonged to Cabin Nine. We passed it around during the campfires.”
“Who took this picture?” I asked.
Her face slowly lost color.
“Robert.”
The name entered the room like a gunshot.
Mace straightened beside me.
“Are you sure?”
“No.” Rylie pressed one hand against her temple. “I don’t know. I remember him taking pictures around camp. He said it was for the end-of-summer slideshow.”
“Was Evan there?” I asked.
“Yes.”
“Walter?”
“Yes.”
“All three Mills men were at the campfire?”
Rylie looked at the reflection again.
“I think so.”
Will zoomed out.
The nine girls smiled around the flames.
A hidden man watched them from the cabin.
And someone behind the camera had captured everything.
Robert may have taken the photograph.
Evan may have been wearing his father’s hat.
Walter may have known what both sons were doing.
Or the entire picture could have been another piece of the Keeper’s carefully constructed lie.
