And I find I don’t want to escape
When my eyes look up at him he glares at me, but I just smile, handing his phone back.
“It’s good.” I let my grin grow. “Can’t wait to sing it one day. Hopefully you’ll be around to hear it.” I turn, skipping down to my bunk.
I change, washing my face to remove last night’s makeup, before grabbing my bag of drugs and walking to the front of the bus.
I sit on the couch and begin to make myself two lines of coke. I had been doing this in my bunk, but since Wyatt seems content where he is, I see no reason to hide now.
“How drunk did you get?” Quinn asks, staring at me.
“Pretty drunk, apparently.” I shrug, bending forward to do a line.
“Are you sleeping with him?”
“No.” I roll my eyes. “I thought you’d be happy we were finally getting along.”
“I am, but if you fuck him, he won’t stick around. And I kind of want him to stick around.”
“Do you want to fuck him, Quinn?” I laugh.
“No, but you have to admit we do sound better with him around.”
“True.” I lean my head back. “But he won’t be staying.”
“So, you did fuck him.”
“No.” I roll my eyes again. “I just think he is far too good for Veritas to waste on me.”
“Maybe I’ll follow him wherever he goes.”
“Oh Quinn, you’d never abandon me.”
“Yeah.” He sighs. “Then who would take care of you?”
I laugh. “Quinn, if you haven’t noticed, Wyatt’s been doing a better job of that lately than you.”
“Yeah, and as you’ve pointed out, he won’t be staying. Though I’ll admit, I’m enjoying the break.”
“Aww, are you jealous?”
“No,” he says. “Grateful.” He gets up and starts off towards his bunk.
“Love you, too,” I call out.
Settling back onto the couch, I enjoy the small high I have going, listening to more Black Cat so I can pick out what song we will play at the next show.
“Hey,” Wyatt says, walking past me. I sit up, watching as he grabs a snack out of the cabinet.
“Can I ask you a question?”
“Sure,” he replies, sitting at the booth around the kitchen table. “You can ask, but I make no promise to answer.”
“What does heroin feel like?”
“Heaven, if heaven was a lie.”
“It is, isn’t it?”
