“I know.”
“I have been here for sixty fucking hours.”
“I know.”
“Nothing happened.”
“I know.” His expression softens after that. “But Liv doesn't.”
That shuts me up. I drop onto the bench in front of the lockers and drag both hands over my face.
Fuck.
The exhaustion hits all at once.
Sixty hours. Virtually no sleep. Too much coffee. Not enough food. And now this. Except none of that matters. Because Liv stood on my verandah and saw Megan.
And I know Liv.
I know what she told me about what happened when she was twenty-two. The cheating. The lies. The way one relationship taught her a lesson she's spent years making sure she never had to learn twice.
I told her I wouldn't do that to her.
Then I gave her a key. And less than a day later, she found my ex-wife half-naked inside the house it opened.
Fantastic.
Absolutely fucking fantastic.
“How bad is it?” Ben asks.
I look at him like he is an idiot. Which, let’s be honest, in this moment it may be a fact.
He nods towards my phone. “How long has she been ignoring you?”
“Nearly three days.”
He winces.
“I sent her six messages.”
Another wince.
“Called her twice too.”
“Jesus.”
“Thanks.”
“Sorry.”
I stand again. “I need to find her.”
“Have you tried calling Harper?”
I stop and stare at him open mouthed.
Ben shrugs when I look at him. “What?”
