Ava’s jaw drops in offense. She waves her arm out towards us. “They didn’t have an issue finding anything.”
“You should be grateful I even went through all of the trouble for this.” He points to his shirt.
“You are such a child!”
Dorian scoffs, “Me?! You’re the spoiled one! I’m just lazy.”
I throw my hand over my mouth trying to contain my laughter. Enzo pushes past them, breaking them apart.
“Idiota. I need a drink. The ride over here was unbearable.”
Sage slaps him on the back of his shoulder and ushers him into the kitchen. Sadie is still wagging her tail, waiting patiently.
“I mostly came to see my other girl anyway. She doesn’t make ridiculous demands,” Dorian says and he squats down to shower Sadie with attention.
Ava turns away from him and her frown morphs into a smile as she pulls me in for a hug. “Hey, baby girl.”
“Happy Birthday, Ava,” I murmur into her hair and squeeze her a little tighter.
We follow the guys into the kitchen, leaving Dorian behind to wrestle with Sadie on the foyer floor. Ava sets her matching lavender purse in the corner of the counter by the coffee maker. She runs her fingers along the sage-colored cabinet doors and white marbled countertop.
“I don’t think I will ever get over the fact that you guys are rich now,” she muses.
“Correction. Liv is rich. I am just her gold-digging boyfriend.” Sage smirks at me over his glass of whiskey and winks.
Ava hands me a glass of wine. “I still can’t believe he had a savings for me that he never even touched. All the gambling and drinking and not once did he take from it."
“Between that, and then selling her dad’s house and cabin, this place and all of her debts are now paid off.” Sage looks at me wistfully. “He made sure his girl was taken care of.”
“He was a better father than we gave him credit for.” Enzo raises his glass. “To familia!”
“To family!” The rest of us say in unison and clink our glasses together. Dorian reaches in at the last second with his bottle of beer.
“And to your huge garage that you’re going to let me keep my bike in!” He beams.
Sage glares at Dorian while making a slashing motion across his throat. I slowly set my glass down on the counter and then spin on my heels to face Dorian, crossing my arms in front of my chest.
“Oh?” I force a fake, amused smile.
He immediately starts his rambling confession. “Oh yeah. Didn’t Sage tell you yet? We were talking the other day at work, and I brought up about how much I missed my sports bike. It’s kind of pointless to have one living in the city. But since you guys now live out here in this huge place, I can get another one and keep it in the garage. I told Sage I’d teach him how to ride in return and then he can get one. If I can talk Lorenzo into it, we could have our own little biker group.”
His smile is so bright and oblivious to the fact that I am fuming right now.
“Will,” I force through my smile.
Ava gasps and Enzo grabs her hand, pulling her backwards into the dining room. Sage swallows hard and sets his whiskey on the counter. Dorian feels the mood shift and his smile fades.
Will.
The only time I ever call him by his first name is when his cock is performing an exorcism. Or when he’s in trouble—like now.
“Dorian.”
“Yep.” He retreats quickly into the dining room with the other two.
“Baby—,” Sage starts.
“Isn’t our job already dangerous enough? Now you want to add thrill-seeking to your list? Not only will I have to worry about you at work, but now in your free time as well.”
