“Your home system is better now. I installed my own software that will block any other hackers from gaining access and turning it off. I’ll also know if any attempts are made to do so and I can then try and track them back to the source.”
He finally looks up at us and then at Dorian. “You actually had a good idea the other day when you brought up the friend finding app.” Dorian beams in his seat. “We don’t all have the same brand of phone, so that app won’t work. But I made my own. It’s better. Even if your phones are off, I can track you.”
“How precise can you get the location?” Sage wonders.
“To the foot.”
Dorian whistles. “Damn, so you’ll be able to tell when I take a shit?”
Enzo snaps his head up and narrows his eyes. “Trust me, you will be the last person I will think about spying on.”
Dorian puts his hand over his heart in mock anguish. “That hurts man.”
A notification sound chimes pulling Enzo’s attention back to the computer. His brows knit together before looking at me.
“Liv, you were already being tracked.”
“What?” Sage growls overtop everyone else’s words of shock.
“How?” I ask.
Enzo doesn’t look up as his fingers fly over the keyboard. “Remotely.”
“Can you trace it back to who did it?”
“Possibly. But I’ll have to do it at work. I don’t have that capability on my laptop. For now, though, I can at least remove it and block it.”
I slump back into my seat and let out a heavy sigh. Sage squeezes my shoulder in a sympathetic gesture that’s lost to my rampant turmoil.
How long has he been tracking me?
He found me in the park, but how long before that?
Has he been following me this whole time?
All these months?
I wouldn’t put it past him, honestly. He did confess to me that he stalked me for weeks before he kidnapped me. It probably took him a few months to completely heal from the wound that I inflicted. But that’s still a six-month gap.
Why would he wait until now to reveal himself?
Sage’s phone is next, followed by Dorian’s. Both are clear from any other tracking software, and then Enzo installs his own. By the time he gets to Ava’s turn, the buffet of fried food and drinks are all gone. Everyone seems to be eating their feelings tonight. Enzo holds his hand out to Ava.
“Why do you need mine?” She fidgets in her seat. “He’s not looking for me.”
He stares at her, his golden-brown eyes burning into her. “If he’s been keeping tabs on Liv all this time, he knows that you’re her best friend. You’re leverage.”
Ava shoots me a look before digging into her purse to pull out her phone. She slaps it onto Enzo’s upturned palm.
“Gracias.”
"Speaking of best friends…" Ava glares at Sage. "How dare you steal mine at my party. Not even a 'Goodbye' or 'Happy Birthday, Ava.' You just carried her off stage like a savage." She waves her hand above her head.
Sage clears his throat. "Sorry, Ava. It was uh… urgent."
Dorian snorts.
"I would have done the same," Enzo mutters under his breath.
