Vel growled in my ear; it was a warning to Greg and me.
He was acting like a wolf pissing on territory he didn’t own.
“If you knew her, you would know her name wasn’t Chrystal.” He looked up at the man, his face still by my neck. “Get the fuck on before you have a problem.”
Greg wasted no time leaving.
“Bitch,” I muttered, knowing he heard.
“You can’t come speak to me?” Vel asked.
I blinked at him, tilting my head. “You sound like one of those ‘where my hug at’ niggas. Besides, you don’t need my attention.”
He laughed. That deep, cocky kind of laugh that made you want to smile even when you didn't want to give him the satisfaction.
“If I didn’t want your attention, why would I be sitting here?” he asked, voice low.
“You came in with someone else,” I snapped.
And now he was all up under me?
Hell no!
Speak of the devil, she was behind the bar, walking toward us.
He would try to get the bartender.
“Hey, love, need a refill?” she asked, leaning forward so her breasts practically brushed my chin.
I glanced down instinctively.
She smirked.
I wasn’t into it, but if it was out, I would look.
I was no better than a man.
Vel introduced us. “Chris, this is Cindy. My first hire at the gym. She works with small businesses to help them get started.”
He watched my face like he was waiting for a reaction.
I kept my face neutral.
“Hi, Cindy. Nice to meet you. Congrats on the job.” My voice was cool, but my cheeks were on fire.
She offered her hand, and when I took it, she held mine with both of hers.
“Is this the Chris you mentioned?” she asked, eyes flicking to Vel.
He nodded.
Cindy smiled warmly. “You’re beautiful.”
I blinked. Was she flirting with me?
I had one threesome with Brian. It had been awkward. I thought maybe letting the other woman in would make me feel less betrayed. If I invited her in, he wouldn’t cheat anymore.
It didn’t help.
