I laughed as Ellis closed his eyes.
“Definitely your sister.”
“Unfortunately.”
She reached us a few seconds later, and the resemblance was even easier to see up close. Not enough that anyone would mistake them for twins, but they had the same eyes and something similar around the mouth when they smiled.
Mila let go of her aunt’s hand as soon as they stopped in front of us.
“Miss Luna!”
“Hey, Bug.”
She wrapped both arms around my waist, and I rested a hand against her back before she pulled away.
“We came to Open Mic.”
“I see that.”
“Auntie said I couldn’t wear my sparkly shoes.”
“Because you were trying to wear them with watermelon socks,” Tasha said.
“They matched.”
“They absolutely did not.”
“They both have pink.”
I pressed my lips together, fighting a laugh.
Tasha looked at me. “See? I knew I was going to have problems with you.”
I laughed, and Tasha shook her head before turning toward me fully.
“I’m Tasha.”
“Luna.”
“I know.”
There was something about how quickly she said it that made me look at Ellis.
He looked away.
Tasha caught it.
“You talk about her.”
“I do not talk about her like that.”
“I didn’t say you talked about her like anything. I said you talk about her.”
I looked at Ellis.
Tasha smiled. “See what I deal with?”
“I’m starting to.”
