Finn is watching my face, his eyes dark with lust and something else. When he takes over, sliding two thick fingers inside me while his thumb presses on my clit, my eyes slam shut as the pleasure coils unbearably tight.

“Open your eyes,” Finn growls. “Let me see you.”

“Finn—” My body arches, hair spilling back across the rug, but I force my eyes open. His face hovers over mine, raw hunger etched into every line. I can feel the heave of his chest against me, and the desperate grind of his hips against my thigh.

My orgasm crashes over me with a sharp cry. I clench hard around his fingers, thighs trembling violently as wave after wave of blinding pleasure tears through me.

Finn’s rough curse tears from his throat, his whole body going rigid against me. “Fuck, baby…” He buries his face in my neck, his hips still twitching, even as his fingers stroke me through the last spasms.

We stay locked together on the rug in front of the fire, while the flames crackle softly beside us. After a long moment, he lifts his head, eyes dark and dazed as they meet mine.

“I thought you said we were taking it slow?” I tease. “I think you deviated from your plan.”

He huffs a laugh. “Yeah, coming in my pants was definitely not in the plan.”

My jaw drops. “You did.”

He shakes his head, looking as surprised as I am. “That never even happened as a teenager.” His gaze traces over my face. “Watching you fall apart like that, you were so beautiful I couldn’t hold back.” He clears his throat and presses a kiss to my lips. “Don’t move.”

He pushes up and heads toward the small bathroom. I hear water running briefly, and when he returns he’s wearing only a fresh pair of black boxers, the firelight playing across his bare chest. With an impossibly gentle touch, he cleans me carefully, wiping away the mess between my thighs and along my hip.

“Stay right here,” he murmurs, brushing damp strands of hair from my flushed cheek.

I smile, completely boneless, happy to comply as he rises again. Finn cracks open the cabin door. A rush of icy night air sweeps in, raising goosebumps across my heated skin as he scoops snow into the pot. He shuts the door quickly, and sets the pot on the hearth near the fire to melt and warm.

While we wait, he stretches out beside me on the rug, seemingly unable to stop touching me. His hand drifts lazily over my body—tracing my collarbone, cupping my breast, smoothing down my stomach, stroking my thigh—slow, reverent strokes like he can’t bear to break the connection.

When the water is warm, he dips a soft cloth into the pot, wrings it out, and returns to me. The first slow drag of heated fabric over my skin—starting at my throat, drifting down between my breasts, across my stomach, and lower—feel like heaven. The heat, the tenderness, the way his eyes devour my every shiver and sigh, and the small sounds of pleasure he makes…

It's too much. Another orgasm builds, softer and deeper than the first, but it still leaves me trembling.

FINN

I drag the mattress off the bed and haul it in front of the fireplace. The fire has burned low, but still throws off enough heat to cut the chill. Once I’m dressed again in a hoodie and sweatpants, I help Lily back into her clothes. The three of us—Lily, Hera, and I—bundle under the heavy blanket and finally sleep.

Sometime deep in the night, I roll toward her half-asleep, and find her already awake, and reaching for me.

Now it’s morning, and I don’t move. I just lie here and let the warmth settle into my bones. My chest presses against Lily’s back, and her breathing feels soft and steady against my ribs. Hera’s paw is kneading my back, letting me know she’s awake.

For a second, I let myself imagine staying right here forever.

But the world doesn’t work that way.

“If you put her food out,” I say quietly, nuzzling under Lily’s ear. “I’ll take her outside with me.”

Lily stretches lazily beside me. Getting up, I give a low whistle and Hera hops up and trots to the door as if she’s been waiting for her cue. For a guy who hates cats, I’m doing a shit job of acting like it.

After we clean up and drink some coffee, I hand Lily her coat. “Snow’s already melting, but it’s still cold out there.”

“Where are we going?”

“Target practice.”

She makes a face. “I don’t think I’m going to be much help as backup.”

My smile vanishes. “You aren’t supposed to be my backup.”
