I gasp.

He stares at me.

I stare back.

And then slowly, I reach out and peel a piece of lettuce off his nose. He has a pepper ring hanging off of his right ear. I snatch that too. Then I grab the olive on his cheek.

What? No wasting food! Wasting is bad. Wasting tacos is a sin I think you’d burn in hell for.

Taco hell. It’s probably real. There’s probably a big taco devil with little taco demons dancing all around. Dang. Now I want to laugh again because it’s kind of a left-center thought, and it is pretty hilarious.

Kayden’s lips wobble at the same time as mine.

He grabs the tomato bits off his cheek and pops them into his mouth before he runs his finger over his forehead and licks off the meat and sauce.

There’s a bit of avocado stuck to his chin, and I don’t think. I just react. I step forward, bend, and lick him, as quick and sly as a snake striking. No matter how fast I am, he beats me to making a faster escape. His big hands curl over my shoulders, and he tugs me to him. I nearly fall on his lap before catching myself against his chest at the last second. His lips find mine, and I am seriously done with our dinner because the only thing that tastes better than tacos is tacos on Kayden.

CHAPTER 14

Kayden

My body erupts in a fiery blaze of desire as Rea kisses me like she means business. She might mean business about the taco she just licked off my face, or she might mean business about me, but either way, I’m not taking it for granted. The hair on the backs of my arms stands on end as I wrap them around her. She tilts her face, inviting me to kiss her harder, with more fury, more lips, and maybe a little bit of tongue, just more. My dick jumps up suddenly at the height of attention at the surprise kiss. I can’t say I’ve ever had anyone eat anything off my face before, but it might just be a new favorite.

“Kayden…” Rea pants as she rips her mouth away from mine just as I’m trying to decide if adding tongue is too much, too soon. “This is bad. We shouldn’t be doing this.”

“I think it’s actually a very good idea.”

Rea’s palms press into my chest a little harder, but she’s not pushing me away. “You know what I mean. Our bodies always worked together. It was the other stuff…”

“I still have no idea what you mean because you won’t tell me. The other stuff always worked too.”

She sighs hard, right into my face. Her eyes have that shuttered look—the one she gets when she’s trying to close me out—but she leans in just a little bit closer. Her lips brush mine like a feather skating across a frozen surface, her breath tickling my face like the wind that blew it. One hand glides up my shoulder and ends up at the back of my neck. Her nails curl into my nape, and it’s not one of those let’s stop this right now curls. It’s more of a let’s see where this can go even if we shouldn’t. I say one thing, my body says another, but I’m just going to go for it here, kind of a curl.

I grip Rea around the waist and pull her down onto my lap. She straddles me, her heat riding against my aching dick in just the right way. The only thing I regret about this is the jeans we’re both wearing. Her fingers grip me a little harder as I lick her pouty bottom lip, making her sigh. Her mouth parts, and I go for it. I attack her mouth, and she attacks back.

I’m surrounded by the scent of tacos, but also by Rea’s scent—a scent of honey, lavender, vanilla, roses, and oranges. Maybe I’m not entirely up on my scents, but I can smell all of those, all wrapped into one heady mix. Rea never used to smell like any of that. I wonder if she changed it up just to throw me off or because she wanted to go for something new. Probably the latter. It has been eight years, after all.

Rea swivels her hips in a dirty circle, and my cock twitches violently. It wants out of these jeans, and it wants Rea sans jeans. That’s all I can think about—stripping those clothes off of her and worshipping her—but my brain isn’t functioning in the proper and right territory at the moment.

“Kayden,” Rea pants. “You taste like tacos.”

“From anyone else, I can’t say it would be a compliment.”

She kisses me deeply before drawing back again. “It is. Tacos are the best part of life.”

“You’re the best part of life.” Maybe that wasn’t exactly the right thing to say because she freezes. I was going to moderate what I was about to say next, but I decided to just go for it to erase the shock factor of the bomb I just dropped without meaning to by replacing it with a brand new shock factor. “Can I taste your taco?”
