Her hand immediately drops. “I’m that transparent?”

“You’re that adorable.”

She laughs that off. “Let’s go grab a drink so I can think more about it.”

I reach up to tap my lip again. “I’ll think about that.”

My hand is in hers in an instant. “Hilarious, Bianca. There’s a bar around the corner that serves a killer martini.”

“Lead the way.”

We start in the direction we just came from, with me following closely on her heel.

I wish I had worn something other than jeans, a tour T-shirt from my favorite band, and the cardigan. I pulled an old pair of black leather boots out of my closet before I left home. They have withstood thousands of trips on foot around Manhattan.

Sabrina’s outfit is as cute as she is. It’s a red dress, a short denim jacket, and a pair of low-heeled red sandals.

With my hair in a messy bun on top of my head, I look like I just rolled out of bed, or I’m ready to drop into one for a good eight hours of sleep.

Once we round a corner, Sabrina’s finger darts out in the air. “It’s just ahead. They always have live music.”

I can hear the soft sounds of a guitar coming from the open doorway.

Suddenly, it’s drowned out by the sharp bite of a cell phone ringing. Sabrina curses under her breath. “Dammit, that’s me.”

We slow to a stall as she tugs the phone out of her purse. “I need to take this. It’s the manager of one of my buildings. We’re having an issue with some of the air conditioning units.”

“I’ll go ahead, grab us a table, and order two martinis.”

She nods her approval before she swipes a finger across her phone’s screen and answers the call the way she always does. “This is Sabrina. I hope you’re having a great day.”

I leave her there while I take the last few steps to the bar at a leisurely pace.

I look over the exterior façade. It’s gorgeous. The glass doors are framed in dark wood. That same wood carries around four large windows.

I glance into one wanting a sneak peek into the interior.

I’m not disappointed. A large wooden bar sits to the right. To the left is a collection of round tables with sleek silver chairs.

A woman is playing a guitar near the doorway. The music is soothing, adding to the ambiance of the place.

The crowd inside is thin, but I want to get settled before Sabrina joins me.

I take a step toward the bar, but I freeze instantly because I can’t believe what I’m seeing.

The man I slept with last night is sitting at the bar.

His hands are all over a blonde. He’s running his fingers over the thigh of her jeans. The other is caressing a path over her shoulder.

Time stalls and my heart skips a beat when he leans forward and whispers something to her. I move slowly until I have a clearer view of them from the side so I can see what happens next.

It’s a kiss.

It’s not sweet. There’s nothing soft about it.

I catch a clear view of a passionate embrace between Roman and someone who isn’t me.

Chapter 35

Bianca

I glance at the doorway in search of Sabrina, but she’s not there. I need an anchor. I feel like I’m floating in disbelief at the moment as I watch Roman kiss the blonde like he can’t wait to get her into bed.

His hollow words about only fucking one woman at a time ring in my head.

He fucked me last night, and we didn’t talk or text at all today, so unless I missed an imaginary conversation he had with me, he’s a liar.

He’s going to take this woman to bed tonight.

The way he’s kissing her is a sign of that. Not to mention the fact that her hands are now running all over his thighs.

She’s burning a path over his jeans with her fingers, just stopping short of grabbing his cock through the denim.

I take a step toward them, and one of her hands darts to the front of the T-shirt he’s wearing. The other fists the lapel of his dark gray suit jacket.

She looks like she’s ready to hop into his lap right here and right now.

He scoops a hand around the back of her head to guide her so he can deepen the kiss.

It’s an intimate move he’s made with me.

I can’t believe what’s happening right in front of me.

Rage runs through me as I stalk toward them.

I didn’t feel like this when I caught Kieran slamming his dick into Ulla. This is splitting me in two. Tears are about to spill out of my eyes, but I hold them back.

I won’t let him see me cry.

I catch sight of Sabrina coming through the doorway just as I’m next to Roman.

“This is quite the business meeting.”
