If someone had told me this would be my life a year ago, I think I would have been confused. Split. I knew I wanted a family someday, but giving up my active role in my business and doing less each day, and not even going into the office, would have sounded impossible. But it turns out that while I was doing all of that work back then, I was also coincidentally training Marco how to be just like me, and he picked it all up pretty well. The single life is absolutely suited to the kind of lifestyle the work demands, and he’s only too happy to make a lot of money and work his way up to partner.

Which won’t be too far off, at the rate he’s going.

“You need me to do anything?” I ask, hovering behind Savannah. As always, though, she seems to have everything covered.

“I’m good,” she says, casting a smile back at me. “But I’m sure Jo wouldn’t mind some playtime with Daddy before we eat.”

I grin, making my way over to the highchair our daughter is already installed in. She’s waving her current favorite toy, a teething ring shaped like a puppy, up and down in the air. She has big, beautiful blue eyes, just like her mommy.

“What’s this, baby girl?” I say, bringing a soft toy plane plush through the air towards her. “It’s an airplane! Look at it flying!”

I don’t even feel embarrassed at the baby talk, or about making engine noises as I fly the toy plane around my child’s head. I don’t know what happened to the real Jonas, or if this was the real one all along, but I doubt that most of my business associates would even recognize me if they walked in through the door right now.

The love of a good woman will do that to you, bringing out all of your best sides even the ones that you didn’t know you had.

I turn slightly from watching Jo grab at the plane and bring it to her mouth to chew it, to watch Savannah as she bends over the counter while laying out the plates. Her beautiful ass is pushed up in the air, giving me the perfect view. I can’t wait until Jo goes to sleep tonight. Thank god we somehow managed to get the holy grail, a baby that does actually sleep when she’s supposed to and for long hours without waking up.

“Oh, that was a ping,” Savannah says, glancing at me and then nodding her head towards the living room. “Could you get that? I’m sure it was from the company.”

I nod, kissing Jo on the head as I get up and go in search of Savannah’s cell phone. She’s always leaving it places these days – which is probably for the best because if it was always with her, it would probably be covered in spit-up, poop, baby food, or any combination of the above more often than not. Finding it on the coffee table, I read the message quickly before returning to report.

“It’s from Hayley. She says she’s finished creating the presentation for Monday and wants us to take a look over it.”

“Oh, that can wait until after dinner, then,” Savannah says, smiling as she plates up the food.

I can’t believe I managed to get such an amazing wife. I knew she was beautiful, and I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that we fit together in a way that just couldn’t be denied. But I never expected that she would be such a force to be reckoned with. Making dinner at the same time as running half my company for me – she’s incredible.

It was her idea for us to share some of the work. She had the basic business knowledge already, and she can charm anyone into loving her. With a little extra training, she hit the ground running. We had a short break for her maternity leave, but after starting again she’s more than proven that she can handle the workload.

We sit down with our plates, including some kind of mush for Jo that is softer on her growing teeth. At the first bite, I know that Savannah’s done it again, created the kind of perfect meal that I would never be able to create, especially not while juggling a baby and work emails.

“God,” I say, shaking my head.

“What’s that?” Savannah asks.

“I was just thinking about how incredibly lucky I am,” I say, shaking my head again. “It’s just… impossible. I think I must have the luck of ten men.”

“Calm down, Jonas,” Savannah says, flashing me a teasing smile that is full of love and happiness. “It’s only spaghetti.”

Extended Epilogue

Savannah

“What is this place?” Mom asks, shaking her head as she looks all around. “I’m all in a spin. We just came from Japan, and now we’re in Kentucky?”
