“Dontae, what I tell your ass about barging in my damn house like that! You gon’ walk in here one day and see some shit your ass don’t want to see,” his mother said, making her way over to us. Literally, his mother was one of the most beautiful women that I had seen in my life. She put me in the mindset of Jada Pinkett Smith, with her small frame. I swear that Donate was the splitting image of his mother. Now I see where Dontae and Bria inherited their hazel eyes from. She had long hair that stopped in the middle of her back, and I couldn’t quite put my finger on it but she looked like she was mixed with something.

“Ma, don’t nobody want to hear that and stop cursing around my damn daughter,” Dontae said.

“Hey grandma,” Bria said, running over to her grandma and giving her a hug.

“Hey grandma baby. How are you doing today?” Dontae’s mother asked Breesha, after raining kisses all over her face.

“I’m good grandma. Did you meet Breesha? That’s Daddy’s girlfriend,” Bria said and pointed her finger towards me. I don’t know why, but I was nervous as hell and I felt like I was going to pass out at any moment.

“I finally get to put a face to a name. All Dontae does is talk about you. I’m starting to get a little jealous, because I think he loves you more than me,” his mother sarcastically said, walking over in my direction.

“I would never try and take your son away from you,” I said, shyly.

“I’m just messing with you girl. It’s nice to meet you though. Follow me into the kitchen so we can talk. Dontae and Bria, y’all go in the den and watch TV while Breesha and I talk,” his mother said. I looked at Dontae, begging him with my eyes to come and save me. I didn’t want to be left alone with his mother.

Dontae saw the fear in my eyes and walked over to me and placed his arm on my waist and whispered in my ear, “Breesha calm your ass down. She not going to do shit to you, she just want to talk to you. After y’all finish talking, we can leave,” he said, and I nodded my head. He pulled back, kissed me on my lips, and walked away inside of the den. I followed his mom into the kitchen and took a seat at the stool, while she stood over the stove.

“Don’t be scared of me, Breesha. I know I might come off as mean sometimes, but I just want what’s best for my son. If my son likes you, and I can already tell that my grandbaby likes you, then I have no reason not to like you as well,” she said, looking at me.

“Dontae and I have only been dating for a few weeks now, ma’am.”

Laughing his mother replied, “Girl do not call me ma’am, I am not that old. Call me Mama April or just Mama, either one,” she said, and I just nodded my head. I knew I wasn’t going to be calling her mama or nothing like that, because I hadn’t used that word in years. When my dad left us, it’s like my mom had developed this new form of hate towards me that she didn’t even allow me to call her mama anymore. I was forced to call her by her name, so it would be hard be me to fix my lips to call another woman mama when my own mother didn’t even want me calling her that.

“Alright, as I was saying, Dontae and I have only been dating for a few months now and everything has been good. In fact, I think I love him. Funny because prior to meeting your son, I didn’t think that love really existed. Dontae was the only one to get inside of my head and open me up to things that I never knew that I was able to experience. Like how it felt to really love somebody unconditionally. To be the first thing on my mind when I wake up, and the last thing on my mind before I go to sleep. He knocked down all walls that I had built up and he was able to bring out the vulnerable side of me,” I told April, truthfully.

“I know exactly how you feel, baby girl. There’s nothing wrong with that. You’re just in love with a man. Your situation is very similar to mine, only difference is that Dontae loves you back. I know because he’s my son, and never has he ever brought a girl over to meet me, hell to even meet Bria. I didn’t even meet his baby mama, Sharice, until that trifling thing went into labor. Growing up, I loved a man the same way that you love Dontae, he just didn’t love me back. That man was Dontae’s father. Only love he ever showed me was with his fist. That man was never there for Dontae, and it’s no telling where he is now. I loved that bastard more than I loved myself, and once I told him that I was pregnant with Dontae, he just up and disappeared. That’s why I’m so hard on Dontae, because for the longest it was just him and I. I only want what’s best for my son, and I can tell that what’s best is you,” she said, and I smiled.

Here I was thinking that his mother was a bitch, when honestly I could see her being somebody that I looked up to, and somebody that I went to for advice. God had a strange way of working, because even though I didn’t have my real mother in my life, I was given somebody else to step up to the plate, and I was entirely thankful for that.

“Enough of all that mushy shit, are you fuckin my son?” his mom asked, catching me off guard by that question. I looked at her like she was crazy. Ain’t no way in hell I was about to sit here and tell this lady that I was fuckin her son.

“What, we grown out here! Just tell me!” she pressured.

What the hell, I might as well tell her because she probably knows I am anyways. “Yes. Yes I am. I’m fuckin him every night,” I said with a big ass smile on my face.

Laughing, she shook her head at my bluntness. A minute later, Dontae came in from the den, stopping us from the conversation that we were having.

“Ma, what you in here doing to my woman?” Dontae asked, spinning me around on the stool so that I was facing him.

“I’m not doing nothing to her, we were just talking,” April said, waving Dontae off.

“Okay. Ma, we about to head out. I just wanted you to meet, Breesha. We about to go have lunch now,” Dontae told his mother.

“Okay son. Breesha, take my number down and call me for anything,” she told me, and I pulled out my phone and saved her number.

After saying our goodbyes, we headed to the car. Dontae went and sat Bria in her seat, while I went and sat in the front seat. After Dontae finished, he came around and we headed out and went to go have lunch. All in one day, I got to meet his daughter and his mom, and I had fallen in love with the both of them.

7:01 P.M

After going to Benihana’s for lunch and then to the movies to go see Minions, thanks to Bria, we were just pulling back up to the mall entrance to drop me back off to my car. Today was a long day, and all I wanted to do was go home and curl up in my bed. I looked into the backseat, and Bria was knocked out cold with her thumb in her mouth. Dontae found a parking spot right next to my car and parked. He kept the car on and running since Bria was sleeping, and we got out so he could help me place my shopping bags inside of my car. After that, he came around and pushed me back softly into the car, and placed both his hands on my ass and squeezed.

“You going to give your nigga some pussy tonight?” he asked, after he finished kissing my lips.

“You have your daughter with you. How are we supposed to do that?” I asked him.

“Yeah, but Sharice told me to bring her back home tonight. After I drop her off, I can come your way once I finish,” he said, and I could see in his eyes how much he wanted to fuck me right here, right now.

“Okay. I’ll be waiting for you,” I said, pulling away from his hold.
