A few girls in the front row screamed. One of them threw her bra at me. A red, lacy thing. I threw it back.

“I don’t want the bra of anyone who paid to see Razer,” I said.

I fixed my gaze on Violet as I continued. I wanted to see the look in her eyes when I dropped my big news on her.

“Again, thanks for coming out tonight to my club.”

I gave them a minute for that to sink in but a lot of the crowd still looked perplexed. I moved closer to the stand, both hands around the mic as I fixed my gaze on Violet.

“Yep, that’s right. For those who didn’t get that. Trouble and everything in it is now mine. I’m the new owner.”

Violet’s jaw dropped but the look in her eyes wasn’t quite what I expected.

Chapter 41 VIOLET

"WHY DID YOU TURN UP?" Alex asked Razer as we walked back to the bar. “I was on a date! You don’t crash other people’s dates. Are you a total boar?”

Razer just laughed and slipped his arm around me.

“Well you know that now you’re my boss, forcing me to go on a date with you comes close to sexual harassment.” I’d figured it’d be easier to just go with him than to argue with him about it every day for the rest of my life.

I’d kept to the letter of the agreement if not the spirit. It wasn’t a real date for me, just eating dinner in the same place as someone else. That whole bit about forgetting the loser though, I refused to stick to that part.

“It was that blockhead, Dazza, wasn’t it?” Alex asked. “He overheard me making reservations on the phone. He ran straight to you with the information.”

Razer didn’t confirm it but he didn’t need to. Of course it was Dazza who’d told him.

We’d only just ordered dinner when Razer walked in.

“What’s that blockhead doing here?” Alex said. “This place is too exclusive for the likes of him. They’ll soon throw him out.”

But Razer had been seated at the table beside us. He didn’t talk to me and he didn’t talk to Alex but he watched us all through dinner. When Alex tried to move too close to me, Razer didn’t speak but he coughed loudly and then I’d gotten the giggles.

In the end, Alex threw his napkin on the table and stood up.

“I’ve had enough,” he said.

“But we haven’t had dessert yet.” I bit my lip, trying not to laugh again.

Alex rolled his eyes. “There’ll be no dessert.”

Razer left at the same time and the three of us walked back to Trouble together. Razer pulled me tight to him.

“Whoa, steady on there. This date isn’t over,” Alex said. “Keep your hands off.”

Razer ignored him and pulled me closer.

"I told you,” he whispered in my ear. “I don't want you spending one minute with that sleaze without me there to protect you. He's bad news. Why else would he hide stuff about himself?"

To be honest, I'd thought the same about Alex. But what did I care? If he wanted to hide his past, that was his issue. I had no interest. I only had an interest in more sex. With Razer, without Alex.

Still, it wasn’t very nice for Razer to say that with Alex right beside him.

We paused outside the doors to Trouble.

“Dates over here,” said Razer. “Once we walk in those doors, you have no more claim on her. I don’t care if you’re her boss or any other bullshit. You had your date like you wanted. Enough’s enough.”

Razer folded his arms while Alex glared back.
