“Feeling better,” Axel asks while we wait for the bags to come off of the plane.

“Somewhat,” I say, reaching for his hand. We lace our fingers together. I have never felt as safe as I do when he’s near me. He is the most amazing man. Since we’ve been together, I found out he coaches a youth basketball league in the summer. He’s so good with kids. My tummy does a little flutter. I smile thinking what being a mother is going to be like. Ideally, I’d like to be a combination of cool like my mom and a disciplinarian like my grandmother.

“Here’s our bags,” he says, grabbing them from the carousel.

“Hey, I love you, husband,” I tell him, still clutching his hand. I know I need to let it go, but I can’t.

“I love you too, wife.” He leans down and kisses me. I can’t help the grin and the blush I know are on my face.

Later at the hotel, I am pleased when I see the plus sign. I am too excited to keep this news to myself or try to plan a cute way to tell Axel. When I yank the bathroom door open it bounces off the wall behind it.

“What the hell is wrong with you?” he asks from the couch he’s sitting on.

“Oh my fucking goodness. I’m pregnant,” I shout waving the test around like a lunatic. He jumps up off the couch and comes over to me.

“Thank fuck. All I’ve done is try to knock you up,” he growls before kissing me. God, his lips are perfect. Everything about him is perfect. He’s beyond perfect for me and he’s going to be the greatest father. I think things happen for a reason and if I had to be kidnapped in order to be found by this man, it was worth it. He’s worth it.

“Mission accomplished, Daddy.”
