Lifting his head, he raised her chin so he could look into her face as his free hand squeezed on her breast. The next second, he’d pulled down the neckline and freed one chocolate tip, taking it between his fingers and giving it a rough tug. She moaned and let her head fall back, letting him slide his hand from her chin and down her quivering stomach to her thighs. From over her dress, he cupped her sex and massaged it with possessive force.

“Adam,” she whimpered, pushing her hips into that teasing hand. He knew the layers of silk and underwear would make the contact more sensitized as they brushed against her hidden flesh.

“I knew you’d be a freak,” he whispered to her while pulling on her swollen tip harder. “So am I. Just like I know I can make you want this as much as I do.”

“Yes,” she moaned against his lips as they plucked on hers sensually. The next moment, he stopped his teasing. His hands moved away from her body, and he saw her little moue of frustration, biting on her kiss-swollen lips seductively.

Adam wanted her just like this – hot and needy for him, aching for his touch. When he’d tried to reach her that whole week after they first met, he couldn’t get over her obvious brush-off. His friends, especially Jake, had laughed at him when they noticed his predicament. A woman actually blowing Adam Bronson off seemed unheard of. Since then, Adam had sworn never to have to deal with that again. It would be the first and last time any female occupied his thoughts for more than even a day.

But now he couldn’t take it anymore. Having her this close felt like he’d been in the ocean for the past eight weeks and had finally broken the surface for air. Gabrielle Black. Gabrielle. A beautiful name for a beautiful, memorable woman. She’d walked into his office that first morning and he never wanted to risk her leaving and not getting to see her again.

If only she’d known what he’d been pushed to do. How after a few days of not getting her to call him since what happened in the men’s room, he’d gone back to the bar. He’d been surprised to see her best friend waiting tables. He’d asked a few questions and found out Ayana worked there and that the staff even knew Gabrielle and that she was well-liked by them.

He’d been contemplating what step to take or if he should even just let it go, when the security monitors he used for the main entrance areas showed her on his screen. It hadn’t taken long to piece everything together and the next thing he knew, he was offering her a job.

She made him want her so much it made his head go dark, but Adam realized that her body wasn’t all he craved. He could spread her across those sinfully inviting sheets and she’d melt beneath him willingly and yet, he suddenly felt he couldn’t settle for just that. Was he crazy or just losing his hold on reality? Gabrielle had made it plain she wasn’t interested in anything he had to offer. Outside of work, at least.

He watched her straighten her disheveled clothes, then dip to grab her shoes and step into them. She seemed to have recovered from her quivering state earlier, and now she looked angry and, lord help him, even sexier than ever.

“I’m not your plaything, Adam. If you’re so bored, why not ring up Kiera? She was all over you last night and you seemed to like it.”

“I didn’t. Not even close,” he growled. Don’t you get it? I don’t want her, I want you. I always want you.

He’d fought his attraction for her for so long, yet now he felt like he’d run out of moves and couldn’t connect his emotions to her in the right way. Maybe he just wasn’t ready to face her rejection if that was what was coming.

Before Gabrielle, all he really did was walk, talk, eat, sleep and breathe business. He’d only dated supermodels and never more than once. The thought of committing to something deeper had never been an option and yet, somehow he was finding the idea more and more enticing. With the right woman, could he possibly consider love and romance as more than just an irony?

Stifling a deep sigh, he resisted the urge to reach for her as she gathered up her things he’d set on the dresser. She was burning to leave, and he could tell he couldn’t keep her any longer, so he said, “Come on, I’ll drive you home.”

Gabrielle woke up Thursday morning with the most horrible cramps. They were far more painful than her worst period cramps. She could barely move for half an hour, but then she checked the time and saw she was running late for work.

She wanted to call the office and say she couldn’t make it in today. But she was worried about skipping out on Adam, because they had this big signing today.
