Her tendency to work too much would cause him to get impatient and bored.

“Yes.” Not one of her doubts could stand up against the love she felt for this man. “Oh, yes. Scarlett told me make sure you didn’t get away and I wholeheartedly agree.”

As metal touched her skin, she looked down. Ashton was sliding a large ring onto the third finger of her left hand. Two circles of diamonds, one white, one pale pink, surrounded a pink diamond. It was a unique take on a traditional halo style engagement ring and absolutely...

“Beautiful,” she murmured.

“Not nearly as beautiful as the woman who will wear it.” He kissed her long and deep. “I love you.”

“I hope you still feel that way when I tell you that I’m not taking over as Fontaine’s CEO.”

“Why not?”

“Because I’m going to travel to cities that don’t have a Fontaine hotel to scout locations. Good thing you’re going to be free to travel with me because I don’t much like the idea of leaving you home alone.”

“Interesting that you should bring this up. Remember that idea you had for a travel series on romantic hotel destinations?”

“Did I say romantic?” she teased. “Actually, romantic is probably a great idea.”

“Phillips Consolidated Networks agrees with you and they want us to come up with a list of hotels. The more exotic, the better.”

“I thought you were done with them.”

“Not completely.”

“Were you going to run off and do another travel show without me?”

“Of course not. You don’t seriously expect that the producers are going to send me to romantic destinations by myself, do you?”

Dismay made her frown. “If you think I’m going to stand by and let you travel to the world’s most beautiful places with some gorgeous, charming female version of you...”

His mouth settled over hers, effectively cutting off her tirade. She wasn’t quite done fighting and it took several minutes of kissing for her to become sufficiently limp in his arms. When he thought he could get a word in edgewise, he relinquished her lips.

“My darling, I know you perfectly well. There is no gorgeous, charming female version of me as my costar. There is only the gorgeous, charming female better half of me that is you.”

“Me? Starring on television?”

“What do you say?”

“I’m absolutely terrified.” She paused, and a broad grin bloomed. “So yes.”

“This is going to be a fantastic project.” Sweeping her off her feet, he carried her out into the restaurant’s dining area. “You. Me. Exotic destinations. Think of all the amazing places we’ll make love.”

She laughed. “It all sounds very exciting.”

And perfect. Because with Ashton’s help she’d discovered her passion and the best version of herself. Most days she might still work too hard, but Ashton would be there to remind her to play, as well. Together they would accomplish anything they set their minds to.

When it looked like Ashton intended to carry her out of the restaurant, Harper stopped him. “Wait, I need my go bag.”

Ashton paused near the door. “You have a go bag?”

“Over there by our booth.” She pointed over his shoulder.

“Why do you have it with you?”

“So I’ll be ready to leave at a moment’s notice.”

With a disgusted noise, Ashton exited the restaurant, leaving her bag behind.
