“Close your eyes,” I whisper. “Don’t cheat.”

“Okay,” she says, her voice a soft purr.

I carry her up the rest of the stairs and place her down near the railing, quickly placing my hands over her eyes again as I rest my chin on her head and gaze out at the flower arrangement.

In blazing pink, the letters so big you could see them from the sky, the words reading, Will you marry me?

I take a deep breath, my heartbeat pounding in my chest with how monumental this is, how important, how vital to our future together.

“I love you, Molly,” I growl.

She spins in my arms, staring up at me, her eyes wide. “What?”

I smirk, sliding my hand up her shoulder and touching her face, guiding her gaze to mine so she doesn’t look behind her. “I love you. I love you more than I can ever explain. Something blessed us. Fate, luck, fucking primal need. I don’t know what it is. But something gave us what so few people ever experience. I love you, Molly, and I always will.”

“I love you,” she gasps, her voice breathy like she can’t quite believe the words she’s speaking. “I love you so, so much. I remember thinking I was crazy. We’re moving so fast.”

“Bad fast?” I banter.

“No, no freaking away. Good fast. Amazing fast.”

I lean down and touch her lips with mine, holding back so I don’t turn her around and bend her over, my fingers twitching with the need.

“Good,” I whisper. “Because I have something very important to ask you. Turn around, Molly.”

I step back and she tilts her head at me, tears brimming in her eyes. “What game are you playing?”

“Do what you’re told,” I smirk. “Or you’ll get punished.”

She bites her lip. “Who said that’s a bad thing?”

I stare at her, and she turns slowly.

I drop to my knee at the same moment, reaching into my jacket pocket and taking out the ring box. I open it and gaze at her as she looks down at the rally track – her rally track – and the words on the greenery. I glance at the ring, a large elegant diamond set within a white gold band, the perfect balance between fullness and femininity, just like my woman.

“This place is yours,” I tell her. “It belongs to you, the same way you belong to me. Molly Davis, will you marry me?”

She turns and stumbles toward me, nodding as tears streak down her cheeks, as her skin glistens with all the emotion bursting between us. “Yes, yes, yes.”

I take the ring and slide it onto her finger, my chest brimming with so much fullness and rightness I can hardly take it.

“Yes?” I roar, leaping to my feet and looping my arms around her, holding her close.

“Yes, yes,” she cries. “A freaking billion times yes. I love you.”

“I love you,” I whisper in return, and then I let myself kiss her hard, kiss her like she deserves, as our bodies melt into each other.

Epilogue

Three weeks later…

Molly

I stand on the balcony with the silk bathrobe draped over my skin in the morning sunlight, my arms wrapped around my middle. It’s early and the light is just bleeding across the sky, slowly, with streaks of the night still in the air.

I couldn’t sleep last night, not after the news, and now I’m left with this whirring pit in my belly.

Everything should feel like heaven now, with Dad doing well at work and Juan locked away. The city has returned to normal and those audio recordings Juan streamed to the internet only made mine and Murphy’s love more real. Now everybody knows who I belong to, and I’ve been whisked into a world of fame overnight.

When I gave an interview talking about my rally passion, it sparked international interest and now I’m getting letters about giving little kids lessons.

I haven’t even mastered it myself yet, and people want to learn from me. Maybe one day… I’ll start a driving school, I’ll dedicate my life to inspiring people the same way rally drivers inspired me.

But those are thoughts for the future.

Right now all I can think about is the news I have to tell my man and wonder if it’s going to change us.

Everything has been perfect since we told Dad the truth, as if we’ve been floating along on a steady current of joy, and my news – however wonderful – is going to change that.

“What are you doing out here so early?” he growls, his voice rumbling at me from the balcony doors.

I turn to find him standing there in his bathrobe, the slit at the top open to show me his bulging pectoral muscles and his rock hard abs. He narrows his eyes at me, a smirk touching his lips, his expression taking on that captivating quality that makes me shiver and burn for him every freaking time.
