“What’s going on?” I’d forgotten about my sister on speaker, even that I was holding my phone. Lifting it back toward my mouth, I said, “I’m going to have to call you back.”

“Oh no. Is it the hot cowboy?”

I hoped the porch floor would cave in and there would be a huge sinkhole to swallow me. My cheeks flushed and Micah grinned. His dark eyebrow went up.

“Nope.”

Micah’s other eyebrow went up, obviously offended I hadn’t called him hot.

“I mean, there’s um…two of them.”

His grin grew as I redeemed myself.

“Two of them?”

“Yeah, and I need to talk to them.”

“No, I need to talk to them,” she countered.

“No, you don’t.”

“Lacey Leesworth,” she scolded.

Micah frowned, glanced at the cabin number beside the door. “I’m sorry, I’m supposed to take the Townsends.”

“That’s me!” Ann Marie said.

The other cowboy, the one Micah said was named Colt—a perfect cowboy name—wrapped the horses’ leads around the porch railing and moved to stand at the bottom of the steps. He took off his hat and sun glinted off the dark locks.

“This is Colt Benson. He’s the foreman here at Hawk’s Landing,” Micah said as a way of introduction. “He’s brought the horses for the day trip.”

“Ma’am,” Colt said, offering a slight head nod. He was eyeing me openly and I felt my heart skip a beat.

“Who is that?” Ann Marie asked.

I rolled my eyes. “The other guy I was telling you about,” I replied through clenched teeth.

“The other hot cowboy?”

Colt looked mildly surprised by remaining quiet.

“I’m hanging up now,” I said, dying a slow death.

“Is that Mrs. Townsend on the phone?” Micah asked, pointing.

I nodded, put a hand to my face, rubbed my eyes.

“That’s right,” Ann Marie piped in over the speaker. “There’s been a little change. My husband and I eloped to Hawaii so my single, very available sister is taking over our trip.”

Colt and Micah both looked at the phone in my hand.

I was going to kill my sister. “Ann Marie,” I groaned.

“What? You’re single and you’re very available. And you said they’re very hot.”

I peeked at the duo who now grinned broadly.
