Grinning, Kayla climbed into the bed and scooted over closer to Seth. Her bare breasts rested against his ribs. She lay her head on his chest and watched him playing a silly bird game on his phone and cussing when he couldn’t beat the level.

He set the phone down and shut off the light. The room was dark except for the faint glow from the moon outside shining through the curtains. He scooted down in the bed and spooned in behind Kayla. With a deep breath he molded himself to her back.

I always trusted, respected and could talk to you, but growing up together kinda made me think you were off limits as a girlfriend.” He paused. “This doesn’t make any sense.”
“Wait, yes it does. You were always there for me. We grew up discovering things together. You never wavered. Even made sure I was always safe. I’ve been tangled up in you for as long as I can remember. You even broke my heart for my own good.”
“Huh? Me?”
“Conner Francis? You remember him?”
“Uhh, yes.”
“He told me what you said when he and I broke up. It was a good thing though. You really shook him up when you told him you were going to strap him naked to the goalpost with duct tape and cover him in honey so the ants would eat him.”
